Great but you need to work a bit
I’ve been using it with my Flair 58 and it works great. I’m able to get amazing shots out of it with perfect dialing in.If you use lighter roasts then just know it’ll be a workout grinding them. It’ll take a lot of effort but overall I’ve been satisfied with the results after the workout that it takes to grind it.One other thing is that when it came, it wasn’t calibrated properly so a lot of coffee shots wasted. But once I calibrated it (YouTube videos available) then it gave me perfect results. I’m using it at 123 steps for my setup.

A STRONG grinder for a strongish home barista
So, there's very little to criticize about the JMax... it's fast, it gives you a very consistent grind, and the 8 micron control means you can dial in beyond the capability of anything less than a mid-grade machine to distinguish. It's a beautiful piece of machinery that's a genuine pleasure to use every day. The cleaning kit and case included make it a great traveling companion as well as a daily driver at home. The only complaint is the amount of torque it sometimes requires to get through certain beans. Medium to darker roasts are much easier to grind, and I don't mind so much the work on the lighter roasts. HOWEVER, my wife tells me that it can be quite challenging for her to use. It requires a combination of grip strength and bi/triceps; it doesn't bother me much, but she tells me it would be too hard for her to want to use repeatedly.Still, as long as you don't mind putting in the effort. This is a SPECTACULAR grinder at a fraction of the price you'd pay for similar performance on an automatic machine.

works wonderfully
this thing absolutely delivers as promised. grinds wonderful espresso at a fraction of the cost of an electric grinder.feels incredibly precise and well constructed.I will say that gripping it while grinding is definitely a bit of a workout on the forearms, but I do appreciate the exercise. My hands are fairly small though. One tip, if you hit too much resistance on the grind, reverse the rotation for a bit then go forward again.

Best of many I have tried!
I have used this product for a year now. I have tried many coffee grinders over the years, from hand to machine grinders. I have always wanted a quiet (not to wake the family), fast, easy, non-messy grinder, high quality grinder. This fits the bill for all of that. I use a regular Bunn coffee maker for my coffee (not overly fancy). For me, it provides sufficient enough grounds for a pot of coffee, some might desire more. It grinds fast enough that I am done grinding before the water is done filling from my reverse osmosis tap on my sink. Quiet enough it doesn't wake the family in the morning. Not messy like a machine grinder as I can easily transfer from the grinder to the filter without a mess while holding it over the sink. The magnetic cup is quick and strong. The long handle provides plenty of leverage for an easy grind. It is also the right size to bring along on vacation. This is the grinder I will continue to use going forward as I enjoy its use every day when I wake up in the morning. Enjoy!

Powerful grinder though inconsistent and difficult to use
I really wanted to love this product. The build quality is superb. It’s capabilities rival those of a product twice as expensive. It’s beautiful to hold and to look at.Unfortunately, for espresso uses it may just be too inconsistent day in and out. In my opinion, the fatal flaws are two:1) inconsistent zero point. This is a well documented problem but basically it is almost impossible to zero the grinder out consistently. Which means anytime it comes loose or requires cleaning you won’t know where to reset to. Which would be fine if or didn’t loosen up a little more frequently than it should.2) grinds can be inconsistent depending on how fast you grind. That to me is the reason I ultimately had to return it. When making espresso you can end up with a ten second difference based off of your RPMs. That’s just too unacceptable for a product that requires manual use.Really wished I could keep it but I would but one for drip coffee or travel, just not something as precise as espresso.
