A definitive look at the first half of one of Pro Wrestling’s greatest years in 1989, this is for the fans who want a deeper dive into the angles of the time. And what times they were!The dissolution and explosion of quite possibly the greatest team up ever- that being Hulk Hogan and ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage in their primes with Miss Elizabeth as their manager is one of pro wrestling’s greatest storylines of all time. But that’s not all. 1989 also featured the epic Steamboat/ Flair trilogy. Which are quite simply, 3 of the greatest matches ever put to tape. If you’re a big fan of wrestling’s golden era, this is highly recommended.

It’s an amazing trip down memory lane but it’s more than that. Dave talks about guys he things are going to be huge stars one day, like Ultimo Dragon and Liger. It’s also fascinating to read about what are now (in)famous incidents in real time. I was going to say that I will buy everything pre 2000 that comes out on kindle and that I want pre 89 too if possible but the fact is I want to read all of the tribute issues too.

I would recommend this book to any longtime Wrestling fan who is interested into what the business was going through along with recommended events.

Extremely informative, especially about the year in question. The only downside are too many fan letters. I am quite happy the Observer no longer has this feature. Other than that, this is a very good read.
