199 Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Animals (199 Pictures) Paperback – 28 Dec. 2017

My grandsons borrowed this from our ,local library, he thoroughly enjoyed it, so I bought him his own copy. He's 4 yrs old but now a dinosaur expert. Anyone whose dinosaur mad , will love this.

This book was bought for my grandson as he constantly wanted it out of the library. Apparently he hugged the book when he saw what it was, so it definitely met expectations

Give this book to your kids, but make sure you have a steady access to wikipedia whenever they are looking at it.You are welcome

Very colourful and illustrative book. My Dino mad boy loves it.

This fairly thin, hard cover book has very nice, but small illustrations of 199 dinosaurs/animals, each neatly coloured and somewhat distinctive with a name label underneath. So it’s a great reference for children with an interest in the topic.But that’s really it. There is no narrative or context. What is helpful is that the dinosaurs are chronologically grouped per prehistoric age so it gets very clear which types were around at what time. What is less helpful is that the dinosaurs are drawn in a uniform scale while in reality there was a wide range of height and length among dinosaurs. Moreover the drawings are small so there is not much detail.Note that it’s not all about dinosaurs; the last few pages of the book also addresses prehistoric animals like mammoths and mastodons.Our 5-year old son still very much appreciated the book. He already had a lot of knowledge on the topic, being able to distinguish a wide range of exotic dinosaurs – somewhat to our surprise, and we don’t know where he picked that up. Also he is just about starting to read independently, so this will help him figuring out the names of new types of dinosaurs. Although I suspect he will struggle with quite a lot of the names.
