Great product
I am one of the fortunate ones that Rogaine works for. I am 61 now and have used Rogaine ever since it hit the market and it (along with finasteride) gave me more hair at 61 than I had in my early 30's. Every time I buy Rogaine in a store they almost always ask, "Is this for you because I have so much hair." If you haven't tried it, give it a shot for 6 months.

Wish It Worked Faster
I'm 26, started using Rogaine about five months ago. Results didn't show until about four months. My hair loss started becoming noticeable about two years ago when I was 24. Strangely enough I think I've seen more improvement in the front (temples) than in the back. I definitely think the product works but it requires a lot of patience and dedication. Very important note: I've been using Rogaine with a DHT blocker that I take morning and night. From my little research and experience so far, Rogaine re-grows the hair while the DHT stops or slows the hair loss. Rogaine doesn't seem to do much for the hair loss itself so I think it's necessary to use a DHT blocker to preserve the hair that's already grown. Here's a not-so-encouraging fact: this product pretty much requires an endless commitment. That means that whatever hair growth is generated by Rogaine is sustainable only through continued use of the product. (Stop using the product and the new hair goes away.) I contemplated doing hair transplant surgery but decided not to because even after surgery it's recommended (if not required) to use a hair re-growth product to maintain the rest of hair around the treated area. Until there's significant breakthrough with stem cell research, Rogaine seems to be the best option. It would be great if it somehow worked faster. But hair growth just isn't a speedy process.

What I think
First of all, I will preface this by saying that Rogaine is not the only brand of Minoxidil that I used during my treatment period, I also used generic liquid Minoxidil 5% that can be purchased from my local pharmacy, all in all I think I used Rogaine for one month out of the 3 months I've been using Minoxidil. Though this shouldn't be a worry because all Minoxidil brands are basically the same thing. Unless the company producing the Minoxidil specifies otherwise. Secondly, my treatment has been going for 3 months as of 3 days ago. Finally, I can't provide a before and after picture because I don't document my progress, and I don't plan on revealing my identity, so you just have to take my word for it.Let's get to my hair loss. I lost my hair mainly on the crown and the back of my scalp but the sides of my head is also thinning, I've been losing my hair for 4 years to the point where you could see my scalp even without any source of light shining over it, though there are still few strands of hair and not totally bald. I went to my local dermatologist to have my scalp seen through microscope, the report was that the hair on my follicles are basically not that populated. Normal hair would have 2 or more strands of hair per follicle, but in my case there's only 1 per follicle. Basically, hairs are very sparse spread over my scalp, It's more like an overall thinning rather than a concentrated loss on one spot.On to the treatment, I don't consume Finasteride like most male hair loss sufferers do. The only treatment specifically for hair loss that I do use are Minoxidil 5% and Ketoconazole Shampoo 1%. I use the Minoxidil as instructed, 2 times a day, morning and night, and I wash my scalp and hair with Keto Shampoo once every 4 days.Next, the result. I can say that I'm very happy with the result I have gotten from using Minoxidil as a treatment for my hair loss.My hair is noticably fuller and thicker, I can no longer see my scalp under normal lighting but harsh lighting would still reveal a little of my scalp. I'd also like to mention that I only apply Minoxidil on the crown and the back of my scalp. The place I don't apply them, like the sides of my scalp don't have any growth on them. From that, I can say for certain that it is the Minoxidil that helps my hair to grow. I also don't catch any side-effects from using Minoxidi, with the exception that there's some unwanted hair growing on my forehead. This is mainly because I use spray applicator for the liquid Minoxidil, rather than using a dropper. My hair does look thicker from day to day, I've been on this for 3 months and expect to see more result until probably half a year since I started before it plateaus. I think that's all I can say about the result. Finally, I will compare using Rogaine Foam with using generic liquid Minoxidil. Overall, I think that using Rogaine Foam is a better way to apply Minoxidil on your scalp. Firstly, you might remember that I said that there's some unwanted hair growing on my forehead, I'm not far too concerned about this since the hair that grows here are pretty soft and unnoticeable, and if they ever grow thicker I will just pluck them off. This is where Rogaine Foam shines, you won't have Minoxidil being sprayed on unwanted places. Rogaine Foam that got onto your hair also dries up faster than the liquid version and also it's less oily. Applying Rogaine Foam is also much faster. Having said all that, I deduct one star from my review score because one canister of Rogaine Foam is definitely not enough to last you through one month. Not if you have hair loss spread all over your scalp. You might be able to get away if you only have one small spot of hair loss though. From my experience, people with hair loss similar to mine would probably burns through one canister in 10 days. Here are some tips if you're using Rogaine that I'd like to give before I wrap this up. Keep the Rogaine canisters in a chilly room, personally I store it in my bedroom because I have Air-con on most of the time. When applying Rogaine, apply it directly to your scalp rather than spraying it to your palm like instructed because the foam can melt pretty quickly. Rub your scalp gently, no need to be rough with it, it's not going to help much, rubbing it too hard may actually damage the velus hair that are growing. Lastly, don't have wild expectations like hoping them to grow into something like Andrew Garfield's hair, that is just not going to happen. Be content that you can at least grow and maintain a respectable head of hair

Not for receding hairlines & front
Didn’t say anywhere I could see in the product description on the sellers Amazon page. The first thing I read on the box “Men’s rogaine foam is for men who have general thinning of hair on the top of the scalp (vertex only) not intended for Frontal baldness or receding hairlines”… “if men have hair loss in a place different than shown above Men’s Rogaine foam may not work”This is crucial information (I believe was left out on purpose) needed to make an informed decision if this is the right product to purchase. When requested to return the product, it said this product is not eligible for return. So I requested a refund, it said can’t be refunded and must first be returned. Round and round with no resolution.Since I can’t get rid of it I might as well give it a try. If it does help on my receding hairline I will return to update this review.

Foam works better (and is far less messy) than the liquid version -- and this price cannot be beat
I've been using Rogaine for more than a decade and the foam is far (a million times) better than the original liquid. With the foam it is more like hair mousse -- unlike the liquid which is slathered on and leaves your head greasy looking (and feeling). One thing though is that the foam is far more expensive, mainly because there is no generic version yet available. But for me the price is worth it. However, when I found this option on Amazon I leaped at it -- I'm saving nearly $30 with every order. In summary,1) Rogaine works for me -- I've regrown and maintained much of the hair on the top of my head.2) The foam is much better than the liquid -- goes on like hair mousse and isn't messy or greasy3) Ordering from Amazon saves me $30 when I order 3 month supply.
