Wonderful for strained backs and damaged hips.
I bought this mainly because I have recently had a total hip replacement and was having trouble doing jobs in the garden, such as potting on, which I would normally do either stood up or sitting on an ordinary height stool. Standing up was easier but not possible for more than a few minutes; sitting bent my hip further than was allowed so soon after the operation. This allowed me work as if stood up but without excessive weight on my leg or straining my back. Now that I am getting more mobile I shall still continue to use it for the benefit for my back; in fact I wish I had got one many years ago. This particular make it very easy to adjust and comfortable to sit on, though of course it isn't designed to sit on like a chair, more to take some of the strain off both your legs and back.

Useful perching stool - with some things that could be improved.
Bought this to be able to do some kitchen jobs after foot surgery. It serves its' purpose and I'm glad I bought it. However, there are a few things about it that could be better. Firstly the seat is not very big. Granted it's only meant for perching but it gets a little uncomfortable on the back of your thigh after a few minutes. The stool is light enough to pick it up and move it with just one hand so can quickly be re-positioned even if balancing on one leg with an elbow in the other hand! It does fold up but, as another reviewer said, there's nothing to clip the folded leg or seat into the folded position so it drops unfolded straightaway. I bought small bungee clips to wrap round it but this is a bit of a design flaw.**Be aware that on an uncarpeted floor I've found the stool slides backwards and only feel safe on it when at least one part of the foot is jammed against something.

GREAT!
I bought this because I have a physical disability in my back and cannot stand for too long, it was getting a bit painful to cook meals and do the dishes without having to go to sit every now and again. I did a lot of research before buying this stool and for the price too, I thought 'great. and it and still is great! I now sit when I do my dishes, and a break from standing by the cooker.. it great for temp seating not great for sitting on it for too long tho.. like to watch a film say! lol.. it slants forward which is the reason it a perching stool.

Badly let down by the quality of the little plastic thumbscrews
The media could not be loaded. This is a sturdy and well designed perch stool which is badly let down by the quality of the little plastic thumbscrews on the adjuster bolt. Basically only one of the two plastic 'nuts' grips the thread at all the other will just push on and pull off. I think really the nuts on the adjuster stud need to be steel butterfly nuts rather than the plastic ones supplied.Initially I found sliding the stool to the desired height was a bit fiddly but I very quickly got used to it. And now I can move the seat and fold or unfold the stool quite easily.Although I am disappointed with the quality of this product I am glad to have it and the clever design partly makes up for the one bit of really glaring poor quality. On the whole despite the poor quality plastic nuts I would recommend this product although at £35 I think the maker does need to address the issue of those plastic nuts.

Difficult to use
I am disappointed with the chair. It is well made, but I constantly slip over the chair due to its strange seat angle.

It doesn't stay folded
The item was damaged on arrival due to insufficient packaging I assume but my real problem with the item is, that when I fold it, it just falls undone, unless I tie it together in two different places, which is just highly inconvenient. If it did fold away nicely it would be perfect, other than the fact I had the unfortunate "broken on arrival" case.

Excellent item
Very easy to use; I am semi-disabled and able to stand but not for long periods, so my ironing was always done in 'fits and starts'! Now, using this great stool, I can iron all morning!!! *Be aware, when you haven't used a stool of any description for ironing, it does take a little while to get used to it, but bear with it and you will enjoy hours of ironing (well, you do if you love ironing!!!) :)

Great help with back problems
The chair enabled me to get on with my ironing and general chores around the kitchen, when I had problems with my sciatica and found it difficult to stand in one position for too long, it isn't a particular comfortable chair more a perching stool, the general construction isn't very stable and the seating area is quite small, but it was good enough to be a help for me at a very difficult time
