"Based on the 2008 NEC and the 2006 IRC"
I find the Code Check references to be helpful and handy to have around the house for quick reference during projects, after borrowing a more complete introduction from the library to re-familiarize myself with the electrical task I'm going to tackle as a homeowner. Since the product description doesn't seem to mention which versions of the code this edition covers, here it is: it covers the 2008 National Electrical Code, and the 2006 International Residential Code.

This book was recommended to me by a city inspector who claimed that everything I'd need to know to pass inspection would be in it. He was right. It is a neat little book with plastic covered pages that seems impervious to the usual work site dust and splatter. It has a decent glossary and a healthy list of the acronyms you are likely to hear bantered around when you go shopping. There is minimal text but lots of lists and diagrams. The best thing about it is that every bit of instruction and explanation makes reference to the Code. This is really what distinguishes it from Stanley Complete Electrical, which is also a good book to have.

NEC publication at your finger tips
I can get around the NEC Book well, but this publication is a 'ringer' for getting quick reference to CODE especially in the residential field. This covers almost any situation with the residential field. I have actually been having this publication for over 10 years in its various editions. It is a must for new ones to the electrical field who want to know the application of residential CODE . I have given my older editions to others and tell them If you want to know and understand the NEC this is the easiest way of being familiar with it. Fantastic Publication!

This book is invaluable if you are not totally versed in electrical code. Absolutely worth every penny. Make this your first purchase when beginning your next electrical project no matter how big or small. This has you covered with the information to do it right, and to code. PRICELESS!

Not what I was expecting
I expected a better review of the CODE for someone at a DIY-level to understand. This wasn't that. The data is thorough, but wasn't presented in a user-friendly manner. If you know the CODE and want a quick reference or simple way to review updates to CODE, this would probably suit you just fine. If you are a DIY person wanting to make your electrical changes to CODE, this probably wont spell things out as well as you'd like. The illustrations a few and not well documented.
