This FANTASTIC FOUR's Colorful World
The issues covered are #'s 33-51. It also includes F.F. ANNUAL #3. The artwork is fantastic, in my opinion. The people look natural, not weirdly enlongated as in more recent comics. The colors are rich. Facial expressions conform to the action. And speaking of action! There is a lot of action, but it exists side-by-side with character developement. In issue 33, Lady Dorma of Atlantis comes to beg help from the FANTASTIC FOUR. They help without Namor's knowledge because he was so proud. And there is also a pin up of SUBMARINER at the end! INVISIBLE GIRL has a greater role in the FF's adventures. When Reed is invited to State U, where he and Ben went to college, Johnny decides he would like to attend as well. An old enemy turns a mock up of an interesting lizard into a living, breathing DRAGON MAN; Sue Storm sees that he is just a sweet, childlike creature and covers him up with a blanket. The FRIGHTFUL FOUR are introduced. Reed and company go to the SKRULL home world to get satisfaction for the death of Sue and Johnny's father. We find out that not all SKRULLS are evil. The FF team up with DAREDEVIL against the archvillian DOCTOR DOOM. Although the volume is entitled THE COMING of GALACTUS, it has a lot more FRIGHTFUL FOUR (four issues) and DOCTOR DOOM (three issues). It does have Galactus and of course the SILVER SURVER. Oh, and let's not forget the WATCHER. In the back of the book are several black and white pages featuring the FRIGHTFUL FOUR.

The FF on All Cylinders
Despite being collected dozens of times before, it's always exciting to get a new collection of this, one of the finest periods of Fantastic Four comics ever made. We've reached volume 3 of the world's greatest comic magazine in Epic Collection form, which brings us from 1964 through to 1966 and issue #51, and it's all as fabulous as ever. What to say that hasn't been said a million times before? By this point, Stan and Jack really were operating at constant peak level - this volume does, of course, contain the masterful multi-parter that introduces world-eating titan Galactus and his noble herald, the Silver Surfer, to the Marvel universe, but there's so much more! These pages bring the debuts of Dragon Man, Attuma, the Frightful Four, and especially the uncanny Inhumans and their secret kingdom.Stan knew by now how to portray our heroes and their nemeses perfectly, with their well-defined personalities being used for conflict and pathos in easy measure. Jack was letting his imagination and creativity run free, with a succession of incredible character designs, crazy gadgets and experimental layouts that took in photo-collages and dynamic page breakdowns. If you're new to the adventures of Marvel's first family, this is one of THE volumes you have to get to see them at their best. Even for folks that have read these wonderful stories a million times before, this is a handsome and affordable way to get them collected, with extras including two pages of house ads, a generous twelve pages of original Kirby art, art from the 1966 Thing sweatshirt and 1965 FF T-shirt, and the cover art to volumes 5 and 6 of the FF Marvel Masterworks. What more can I say but - Make Yours Marvel!
