I find I can still hear most noises with these. Are they supposed to be different to typical ear plugs or am I using them incorrectly?

You need to hear other (road) noises to be safe. But these are fab at blocking engine roar

By how many decibels is sound reduced?

Before I purchased these I asked the supplier the same question and received a very vague answer. However I still bought them and have been very pleased with them. I use them when riding my motorcycles and have also worn them when helping a friend test his drag bike which is extremely loud. They will not attenuate as much as the best ear plugs but have been more than adequate for my uses, they reduce noise down to very comfortable levels. The big pluses with these are that you can still have a normal conversation while wearing them and they are very easy to put in.

Are there replacements for the little black pieces of plastic in the middle of the earplug that seems to hold it in the ear? Mine fell-out...

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately we don't currently offer the filter elements individually. In this case we would recommend reordering the earplugs, as they don't provide protection without the filter.

Are these linked together by a cord? Or just loose?

They are loose but come in a handy little carrier as shown. Just back from a Harley Davidson bike rally this week and these were so comfy you would hardly know they were in. Extremely comfy fit. Lack of cord wasn't such a big issue but it might be something they should offer as an option and i will mention in the review they've asked me to complete on my return. Easy to put in and take out too. Cuts out the general wind and bike noise but you can still hear talking or sirens (the important noises) thru them. Highly recommended and i have a custom set of earplugs for playing in a band but these fit better.
