Easy assembly
My husband loves this spreader. He said it does exactly what it is advertised to do. Very easy assembly. He was able to use it within 10 minutes of assembling. Great price too!

Not the greatest on initial unboxing but I think it might work
I was a little hesitant to buy this given some of the reviews. But I anticipate only occasional use for pretty standard lawn (not large), so figured I'd give this spreader a shot. I certainly do not need an expensive one. Mine came partially assembled--the drum is assembled and the handle is separate. For the drum . . . as others have pointed out this DID NOT have side latches as the pictures/description lead you to believe. There are 3 latches along the seam where the drum opens. Not the best design, either, since the latch "hooks that the latches should hold onto are pretty short and not manufactured in a way that looks like they can possibly hold the drum shut during use. the drum door has some flex/movement to it and If you push at all on the door one if not more of the latches will come off. I dont think they can be bent to create a more solid connection, but pretty sure I can rig it with zip ties or a bungee somehow. Not a great solution, but will try it.Will update the review after trying it out if it deserves a different rating. Right now, I'd just rate it pretty average based on initial appearances and construction.

Great results
Fraction of the price as the leading brand and I had great results. I opted to use raised garden bed soil because it was on clearance at the hardware store (cheaper than topsoil). Way fast than shoveling or hand spreading by far. Great coverage and it sifts out all the sticks and rocks in the dirt.

Dysfunctional Product
After reading James A. review from 4/10/24, it appears I received his exact dysfunctional product. Only 1 of the 3 latches closed properly, and the other 2 did not latch at all. Regardless, I attempted to use the product. After 1 full rotation, the spreader completely opened and dumped all contents. I was unable to roll more than 5 feet without it flying completely open. I was very much looking forward to using this product, but it was not usable by any means. The price was nice, but the functionality was a complete after thought. Total POS.

Great idea
This compost spreader is a super great idea! I feel like we are forever having to do yard repairs, and soil amendments, so I was hoping this spreader might make things easier. The thing you have to realize about this compost spreader is that you will be limited by the size of the opening to add compost/whatever you are adding. If you have anything other than a tiny, tiny yard, you will spend a lot of your time refilling this. Also, and this is key, you are going to want whatever you add to be pretty dry, otherwise it will get stuck and clump together inside the drum and not come out. I don't know how peat moss is sold in other parts of the country, but where I live, it is sold in highly compressed cubes. It is a proper pain in the backside to break up the compressed clumps- which you will certainly need to do to fit it in the drum- and then any remaining clumps will spin around in the drum at the end. So...it's a great idea, and to an extent is easier than dragging amendments around the yard and leveling them, but it is still a fair amount of work. Do not be fooled by the ease of a drum distributor with handle- you'll spend an inordinate amount of time refilling this.

Worked exactly as promised
Easy of putting together and operation. Able to spread grass seed topper easily. Would recommend.

Works quite well
It worked great for peat moss so long as it was not at all clumped. I added half a dozen 3” crushed not round rocks and it broke up the clumps very nicely.

It is not that easy as it's advertised
I truly liked the idea, but I didn't like its lock mechanism as it was keep getting open and was creating a mess! They can be replaced with a more reliable mechanism or put the locks on the sides if possible.
