Its a clamp, was a bargain.
Forgot i had even brought these way back in 2021 for a DIY project i had until sorting tools out the other day. Opps should had reviewed sooner. Not much to say really except its a G-Clamp it holds stuff together lolThe material quality is just as good as ones you would get in well known hardware stores and i think when i purchased they were much cheaper. (Checking i paid under 5 quid each so they have gone up a bit since 2021 at now just over 7 quid). They did my DIY project fine with no issues and rattling around in a tool box since have not suffered any damage (the paint is still even on them).Worth the money.

Good clamp, shame about the finish
This clamp had a nice rolled approximately square thread which ran very freely. It had a pitch of 0.3mm, about 8.5tpi, so not that fine.As mentioned by Wilko, the main issue was that the clamping anvil has substantial ridge across it, which would badly mark any wood clamped with it. I was able to file this down to achieve an acceptably smooth clamping anvil. The "Silverline 282521 G-Clamp Light Duty 100mm" cost significantly less and did not have the uneven clamping anvil, though its frame was not quite so sturdy. The thread pitch of that was about 4.2mm, 6tpi, so not that coarse compared to the thread of this clamp. The swivel pad of the Silverline also had a better crimped ball joint, with more tilt. However the thread of that clamp needed significant easing before it would run reasonably freely. For normal DIY use the Silverline clamp would seem better value for similar quality.

Good 'old-fashioned' G-Clamps of a traditional and familiar design
These are traditional, old-fashioned cast iron G-Clamps.I have not managed to break them yet so the cast iron and the screw part is holding up well. With any cast item there is always the possibility that the casting might have a flaw inside it and I guess that is true even of the expensive stuff as well. Maybe the dearer ones are examined by X-ray for flaws; I don't know. Anyway, these have not failed to-date so I am pleased about that. You can pay fancy money for the 'famous' Record G-Clamps but these do the job just as well in my opinion. The frame looks very similar to the 'well-known' ones and may well be a cast copy because such items can be put into a sand mould and then copied.I am happy as they clamp two pieces of wood together while waiting for glue to set. They of course also come in useful for holding timber to a work bench for sawing or chiselling.A good useful tool to have around the workshop or home.

Good old fashioned cast metal put to good use.
I bought the Blue Spot 4 inch Fine Thread G-Clamp, just to be clear; these pages contain reviews for several related products.Good and solid and easy to adjust, they can be clamped down lightly or very firmly depending upon your needs. With some rubber tape or scrap blocks to protect surfaces these will be a big help in a variety of jobs. Slower to adjust than quick-clamps but to me they are worth it. I don't make furniture in a hurry and the better grip that these provide makes them worth the extra adjustment time. Good value for money.
