Saved the spark plug threads on my Honda gx160
This tool saved me a lot of time. I'm working on a generator and someone didn't install the correct spark plug. The threads weren't the same pitch and the correct plug wouldn't thread in. The threads looked okay so instead of drilling them out I decided to chase the threads first. This tool worked perfectly and a new plug fits as it should. Be sure to grease it to catch debris and to prevent galling This is what I did: 1. Apply grease to threads and grooves of the tool 2. Very gently seat it in the hole 3. Work it ccw and cw until you start to catch a thread 4. Stop, and verify that it isn't crooked. I put a socket extension on it to make it longer so it's easy to see if it's in cock-eyed 5. Turn slowly, keeping it perpendicular to the head 6. Slowly thread it in and out, gently working through any resistance 7. Occasionally take it out and clean out the grooves/threads of the tool 8. Gently work your way to the bottom, going in and out, in and out 9. Keep cleaning gunk off the tool as it sticks to the grease 10. Clean up the threads/etc

Amazing to have!
Hands down a must. My spark plugs went in relatively easy, then I used this and I could hand tighten them till they bottomed. I had to wipe the dirt off the chaser and I used some lube to make sure it ran through good.

Great tool for deep and hard to reach spark plug applications
I like to clean the spark plug threads each time I replace the plugs and this tool does it well. While that might seem like overkill to some, I like to take extra care with modern aluminum heads. It is easy to strip and damage the threads and a plug blowout is not fun to fix. Using this tool does not add that much extra time to your job and I find that using this with a little oil lubrication on the threads works very well. This is a thread chaser, not a tap, but you still need to use caution during use. the threads are not as sharp as a regular thread chaser kit, but I find that to be a positive when dealing with aluminum heads. The thin profile is excellent and is one of the primary reasons for my selection of this specific product. The thin profile is basically a requirement now as many cars are needing it, so having a non thin profile one is just redundant if you have this one, unless your needs might require a short length. I cannot give 5 stars as I am not so happy with the fit of the 3/8 drive. It is not very firm and the grooves inside for the detent ball do not work so well. This could get 5 stars if one of those were replaced by a hole for the detent ball which usually holds far better. While that is normally an impact thing, I am not intending on impact here, just a tight and form hold to avoid the chaser from coming off of the extension hen used. I would not hesitate to buy another if I needed assuming that the overall value is still there. I was informed by ARES that they do in fact offer a lifetime warranty on this tool, even though it is sort of a cutting tool. Keep a light coating of oil on this while stored in your box and you should be happy with this. Please note that I am not a professional, so my statements should be interpreted as such.

You need this after you mess up the sparkplug home.
Saved an old Tecumseh 10 horse engine that someone had screwed up the spark plug threads on. A gentle back and forth got the threads in order, then cleaned out the shavings with some sticky tape on a screwdriver and all was well again (after adding a new carb sine the prior owner never cleaned). Nice little tool.
