JOYO DRJ Series Pedals

I really like this fuzz. It sounds like if you turned a fuzz face into an overdrive. The color control I usually leave cranked. It seems to add a little body and mids. It will oscillate a little with a wah in front of it but only in certain positions with my wah when the drive is high. I kinda like the glitchiness. It sounds better to me without a buffer in front of it and cleans up better with your guitar’s volume without a buffer in front. Clipping diode selector is pretty nice as well. The silicon is a bit louder and more open compared to the germanium. The germanium is more compressed and fuzzier compared to the silicon which is expected.I’m not sure what the fuzz lineage Joyo was inspired by since I’m not good at identifying circuits. It’s not a Fuzzface as far as I can tell. Pedal is fairly modifiable. I think I’d like to swap some diodes. Probably install sockets to make things easier.This pedal works as an always on pedal since it cleans up so well with the guitars volume knob.

This is not an aggressive fuzz. It does not spit, gate or have that Velcro sound that you can get on many other fuzz pedals. It is a very low key effect. But it works great for me.The knobs are labeled weirdly. Input is gain or fuzz. Output is volume and color is tone.Even with input turned all the way up, there isn't a lot of fuzz. It's there, but it feels and sounds more like a very light overdrive. Yet, it also maintains the characteristics of fuzz.I use this pedal along with a klon clone. Gain is maxed on both pedal, and it creates the creamiest overdrive I've ever been able to dial in.My chain is guitar > fuzz > klone > amp. This is the absolute best overdrive sound I've ever created. The creaminess comes from adding this fuzz to the chain.This pedal probably isn't for you if you are looking for something similar to a fuzz face or muff. But, it is a well made pedal that happens to perform magic to my overdrive sound.

Not overly strong fuzz. More fuzz “lite”. It’s what I was looking for, so glad I got it and the price is great. Don’t expect doom or splatty fuzz. I even use it for overdrive at times. Joyo put out good products in my experience.Edit: Three weeks in the pedal introduced a high frequency buzz that was very annoying. It literally happened overnight. I went through all the culprits of outlets, guitars, cables and finally pedals. It was the Dr J, which really bums me out because I liked it/loved it. I still have 3 Joyo pedals I like, but unfortunately Dr J will not be one. Once bit, twice shy. Having Prime allowed me to return it without a problem.

Great vintage sounding fuzz. Not over the top. I use it for classic rock/zepplin riffs.
