Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Secrets

Excellent overview of pertinent information
Bought this book to enhance my study for OCS Board exam. Just finished a 13 month orthopedic residency that did emphasize up to date evidence, which I certainly needed. This book uses information that is a little older, but that is why I liked it. It is an excellent review of basic science, accepted clinic practice, and almost current evidence. This will be helpful for me on the Board exam, as most of the questions are not based on up to the moment, current information. I will continue to read this book after the Board exam, as it is chock full of bits of data, differential diagnosis reminders, "trivia" that I often forget.

Lots of helpful information, great reference
I used this book to help study for the orthopedic clinical specialist exam (OCS) as it was recommended to me by some of my physical therapy mentors. There is a lot of useful information in this book and it contains just about everything you need to know. The format can get a little annoying when you are studying for hours. So, I had to mix up reading this book with other material in different formats such as reading the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Current Concepts of Orthopedics Physical Therapy, and Clinical Practice Guidelines. After passing the OCS, I kept this book with me at work for reference.

OCS Essential
If you are thinking about taking the OCS then this book is a must have. Everything is written out in clear and concise terms. I found very helpful with structural differentiation, especially with nerves. This book encompasses a vast majority of what you need to know about orthopedics, it made all that stuff in school much more digestable.

Great book. The best orthopedic resource I have purchased.
I bought this book as a review for the orthopedic specialty exam in physical therapy and have been thoroughly impressed! The book is evidence-based and is written in an easy to read question and answer format. I highly recommend this book for any orthopedic physical therapist, chiropractor or MD/DO. I believe this book will soon become your default resource for orthopedic rehabilitation.

This book is an excellent resource to have in the ortho clinic, especially as a new clinician. It is comprehensive in its coverage of orthopedic conditions and can provide quick information when you need it! It is easy to use, not overwhleming in the amount of information it provides and everything is presented along with resources if you want further information.

Purchased to supplement studying for the OCS exam
Purchased this book to study for the OCS exam. I haven't taken the exam yet but so far I find it to be useful for those area of practice that one wouldn't necessarily consciously think about every single day....like the the technical details of modalities, pharmacology, etc. It's also a nice summary of the aspects of practice that do come into play regularly. The question/answer format is kind of nice because very specific questions are answered and you don't have to read through a long, non-specific chapter to get to the bit of information you're looking for, so I appreciate the format overall.

Very good book
I purchased this book as an additional study guide as I am studying to take the OCS. This book is very informative and I really like the question-answer format throughout the book. Very useful book and I would recommend it to anyone studying for the OCS.

Not worth the price
There isn’t really a secret in this. If you’ve gone to PT school, this should come as common knowledge. Uh fortunately a bit disappointed with the quality, organization, and lack of in depth knowledge in this book.
