* The GOOD * The GREAT * And The NOT SO GOOD *
Update:I've had this grill about a year now. Use it 3 to 4 times a week. This and my air fryer are my Go - To appliances that a couple of years ago, I would have said were a "Waste of Space." Now, I can't imagine doing without them. I use this for everything from my Protein Pancakes to Quick Juicy Steaks. It still looks like new, because I always give it a quick cleaning when I'm done & throw a cover on. BTW. I use a Pillow Case for the cover ($1.50 closeout at JCPenny) A nice heavy pillow case works great and you can throw it right over it. Plus, you can buy them super cheap & there's a million patterns. I expect this will last several years, as I've had no problems.Original Review:This grill does a great job getting up to temperature quickly. It didn't smoke very much, until I made the mistake of using 73% Lean Hamburger. There was no smoking with the Pork Chops, Steaks, Turkey Burgers, Hot Dogs, Sausage Dogs or Kielbasa I grilled. Using the Glass Lid angled upwards did help keep the spattering down. One thing I've always done with indoor grilling is take about a quarter cup of Olive Oil & 1 teaspoon or two of Liquid Smoke. Mix together and brush on whatever meat you're cooking on the grill. It gives a great smoky taste and keeps from burning.1. The "Instruction Manual" basically says to "Plug It In," "Don't Get Burned" and "Do Not Put In Water." THANKS to whoever wrote that!! They did give one good tip and that was to use aluminum foil to line the aluminum drip tray. I found that those pop-up foil sheets you get at Dollar Tree, worked great for that.2. I wish they'd made a notation of how God awful HARD it is to clean the grooved grill side, if you get a lot of grease and goop in it. The grooves were full of grease and yucky goop, that I can't even identify from that greasy hamburger. Finally figured, I could push most of the goop and grease to the left side, into the drain holes, let it drain onto the counter and clean the mess off the counter. Don't use the grooved side for anything greasy. It is effortless to clean the smooth side. I've started keeping "Orphan Socks" to use for clean-up and then tossing it out. When putting on the Glass Lid, put it down in the back, by angling it down. Then, Lift it Up and move it Forward to Cover the grill. It will Latch in Place at the Front. Reach Under the Middle of the Front of the Glass and you'll feel the Latch that unlocks it. Then you can Raise it back up. (They don't tell you this in the instructions.)I do recommend this grill, but I wish they had included more in the manual. Great Value; Use it Frequently
This is a really fantastic value for the money, and I mostly love this grill. Admittedly it probably sees more use in my kitchen than most - I really put it to the test since it arrived, cooking everything from burgers to pancakes. My main concern was that it'd be difficult to clean, especially after noticing the style of the grill was similar to the George Foreman, which was impossible to clean. However I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this grill is very easy to clean, and the whole job takes just a few minutes. The food comes out great & while nothing can really match the way it comes out on the outdoor grill, it is a fantastic alternative when it's too hot/cold outside, there's no propane left, or I'm just too lazy to deal with the BBQ. I decided to leave a review that wasn't quite 5 stars however because of 3 issues worth mentioning below. None of these have me feeling any regret whatsoever with my purchase however, because I've definitely gotten my money's worth already at under $50.1) My original hesitation about purchasing an indoor grill was worry about the smoke & the smell. Despite many assurances to the contrary, there's really no way around either one. After cooking something on the grill, my place reeks like a BBQ pit. The only way to mitigate this is to thoroughly clean it immediately after use, but expect the vicinity to smell like whatever you cooked for a while afterwards. While there's no thick smoke coming off of it, it will trigger the smoke alarm every now & then.2) It takes a really long time to cook hamburgers; presumably because the maximum heat setting just isn't quite hot enough. Most everything comes out better when cooked slower, but I'd prefer to have the option.3) Like many others have warned, the glass lid is sketchy. Be very careful with it! I came close to breaking it a few times, and feel like one false move and I'll break that latch, and when I do, it'll be the end of the grill. There's also not enough vertical space for cooking larger items when the lid is closed, causing the glass cover to touch the food...adding work to the cleanup job, so make sure your patties are thin.UPDATE A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER: I'm still using it pretty regularly, but am noticing that it is taking longer & longer to cook burgers. I think the heating element is weakening somehow & on maximum setting, it is just clearly taking a longer period of time to finish cooking. I haven't actually quantified it, but it's clear if it continues at this rate it will probably only last a few more months.

Best Indoor grill ever!
What a great product. Simple, elegant and functional. Only three parts including a very functional lid plus the plug in controller. Built a shelf just under the counter by the stove so I don't have to bend over. The big cooking area is amazing and drip tray functions on both the griddle and grill sides. Heats up fast and everything just wipes off easily with a wet sloth while its still warm. Good value from Amazon and quick delivery. Did a lot of research on the web and this is the best by far. Only one caution - Be careful to lift the lid up before closing or you will break the guides holding it up.

Better than I expected
We have been looking for an indoor grille for a while and settled on the Mega Chef based on the reviews and overall rating of the product. The grill has performed above my expectations and I am thrilled with the purchase. It does exactly as advertised and I will be using it all summer and even better, all winter. I highly recommend this product and looking forward to sharing the delicious culinary results with my friends and family.

Love this reversible grill/griddle
This cleans up like a dream and the lid is perfect for indoor grilling. I found the base a little bulky, but still better than having the two separate items.
