A solid collection of out of continuity stories
So the first thing people who are considering this box set may want to know is that the stories don't fit in with the canon. In fact, some of them contradict it rather boldly. I see that as a win since it leaves the writers the freedom to try new things and not worry about the red hot mess that is Batman continuity. Some, like the Catwoman and Clayface stories, do feel like they could be in continuity, while others, like the Riddler or Ra's al Ghul story, are obviously set apart. The one disadvantage to this, as I see it, is that some feel too abstract and meta to pull me in completely. Ridley's Penguin story is about power in Gotham and asks some intriguing questions/makes some intriguing allegations, but as a narrative it's too inconclusive for me. You can "hear" John Ridley trying to talk to you over the story. The same is true of the stories by King, Tamaki, and Taylor, to greater and lesser degrees and with varied results. All in all, it's a great collection of standalone stories featuring most of the A-list rogues. Some stories are better than others but there isn't a single one I was really disappointed in. If I had to name two favorites they would be Tamaki's Two-Face and Taylor's Ra's al Ghul. Both use family settings to ask questions about the larger world, Tamaki on a smaller and Taylor on a broader scale.

Great
Fantastische serie comics. Verschillende tekenstijlen maar allen even knap. Mooie uitgave. De serie lijkt op de foto wel veeeel breder dan in realiteit..
