This book uncovers previously under-appreciated connections between Catholic sacramental life that occurs within church walls and the ethical life that takes place outside of them. Re-purposing the ancient wisdom of early church parents such as Chrysostom, Copeland shows that taking seriously the truly embodied presence of Jesus's body in the Eucharist entails taking seriously the sacredness of other oppressed bodies-those of lgbt people, black people, and other victims of empire. This book is both fiercely prophetic and deeply pious. It could be used for upper level undergraduates or graduate students.

A contemporary classic
Copeland's book is a widely read and renowned contemporary classic in U.S. Christian theology. A must-read.

The truth that challenges
Enfleshing Freedom is not an easy read but it is an important book for those who strive to broaden their understanding of what it means to be a Catholic Christian. M. Shawn Copeland does not shy away from the truth just because it will challenge many readers to look at Christ and discipleship in a different way. Some may find Copeland's writing to be too scholarly and unapproachable. I find it to be prophetic and challenging. For the reader who is open to looking at the intersection of race and faith, I highly recommend Enfleshing Freedom.

Poor Quality Copy
The book is copied in poor quality and the top line on every other page is indistinguishable. This product should not be on the market. I would have returned it but did not need it until the end of the semester so my return window had closed.

Sideways, can't read
This is not an ebook; it is a sideways scanned PDF. Each scanned page is only a partial page, so every time you get to the next page you have to find your place. Don't get this "ebook." If i didn't need to read it for school I would be demanding a refund.
