This Years Model - CD No. Disks or Items: 1 Product Type: Music / CD - Genre / General Release Date : 18/06/2007 Dimensions: W: 127mm x L: 138mm x H: 9mm Weight: 76g Barcode: 0602517260894 Catalogue No.: 1726089 Review: Its never too late to discover This Year's Model ... - It's 2017, 40 years since the bands that brought us punk were formed, including Elvis Costello and the Attractions, and I am on some sort of nostalgia kick - why I don't know but that's not the point. So I'm revisiting the golden oldie albums from my teenage years and in some cases making their acquaintance for the first time; and the latter includes This Year's Model by Elvis Costello. Although I have later albums and greatest hits albums from EC I didn't have This Year's Model (confession time I don't have My Aim Is True either) until now - I think this gap is probably because I missed the 5 Live Stiffs tour when it stopped in Guildford in late '77 (this must have been the only time that school work took priority over live music) and so missed an early introduction to EC, Ian Drury, Wreckless Eric, Nick Lowe and Larry Wallis (words now fail me for history has shown this to have been a dreadful case of mistaken prioritisation as my A levels couldn't have got any worse). But this wrong has now been righted and I have added This Year's Model to my CD collection, although not My Aim Is True, at least not yet. There's not much that hasn't been said elsewhere about this album since its original release in 1978, so heaping my praise on top of everybody's else's adds nothing new, but this is a great slice of late '70s music and if you're nostalgic for the original sound of the 70's you should get This Year's Model, you won't be disappointed, and if you already have it then I'm envious as you’ve been enjoying its uplifting songs and driving beats for longer than me, why didn't anyone tell me? Review: Superb collection of early Costello music - Punchy and punky, Elvis Costello was always right up there with the finest acts of the late 70s and early 80s alongside the likes of The Jam, The Stranglers and, of course, The Clash. Somehow this early work is still relevant today and, given Costello's 4 decades on the scene, demonstrates just what a marvellous talent 'The Man' really is. Highly recommended.

Classic
First I'd like to point out to those complaining that the sleeve photo is off set or printed wrong, that is the way the original American cover was made. It also had Radio Radio instead of I dont want to go to Chelsea ,so it is not a fault. This is indeed a classic album, one of elvis costellos best.

For Fans 'A Must'
This is generally considered his best album. The reason why only 4 stars is that I enjoy his other early albums even more.

This Year's Model (Vinyl)
This is a reissue of the original American issue, with Radio Radio added as an extra track. It has the American label of course, and the front cover picture is NOT printed off-centre - it extends slightly around the back because it's MEANT to be like that! A quality product. I've just paid £14.99 and at that price it's an absolute bargain 🤗

Great version
Came promptly. Collects all contemporary a&b sides missed off the original. Good sound. Including the live cd

Good stuff!
Good re issue, however the packaging has not been assembled properly. Most likely due to a fault in the factory. The E and the T are on the back instead of the front. Amazing album, and so thrilled it has been re issued so I can have it!

Strong Second Effort
"My Aim Is True" is one of my favorite albums period, by anyone. So, "This Year's Model" had its work cut out. I was very impressed, particularly by the sound put out by The Attractions, Elvis's first album with that band. "Pump It Up", "Radio, Radio", and "( I Don't Want To Go To ) Chelsea are among the best and most well-known songs. "This Year's Girl", "Lipstick Vogue", there's plenty of great music to enjoy. Get it!
