I work as an ecology technician in the Pacific Northwest and spend most of my waking hours outdoors in all kinds of weather. On any given day I might be hiking off-trail on steep terrain with 30 lbs of gear on my back, installing willow stakes while standing in freezing cold water, or scrambling over log jams and boulders while wading a creek. I have put my oldest pair of these socks through the wringer and they show no sign of wearing out, so I bought several more pairs and they are well worth the price. They are the warmest, most comfortable socks I've ever worn, with plenty of cushion and enough insulation that my feet don't freeze and I never get blisters even when working an 8-hour day in uninsulated rubber boots. As a bonus, I also wear them snowshoeing and they keep my feet toasty warm and blister-free.

I'm traveling to Iceland and needed something super warm to keep my feet from freezing. These socks are amazingly thick and warm! I should warn you though, if you're planning to wear shoes, you may not have room. I was hardly able fit into my normal shoes with these socks, but I bought my winter boots with a little more room so there's not issue there. It's worth the price for sure. I wear size 8 shoes and bought the M.

I’m a bigger girl and this is my second pair of DTS. They’re just too tight around my “canckles”. There isn’t enough fabric to stretch and they end of cutting off circulation and just too tight to be comfortable. I really wanted to make these work, and I am sure SO MUCH FUN FOR SKINNIER people, but aren’t made with enough give for plus size women.

We wear Darn Toughs all year. I usually wear the wool lightweight knee highs with my hikers and snow boots in summer and winter- same sock. They wick sweat in summer and I don’t feel the heat or wetness and keep my feet warm in winter. My daughter wanted a cushiony feel in her new hiking boots and though these feel too thick to me for summer hiking, she likes them. I would definitely wear these in winter, thick and cushy. Summer only if you need the padding.

I bought these for an upcoming trip to Alaska. I tested them out last spring on a trip to Northern Arizona, where it was almost freezing. Since I'm from Florida, anything below 60 is almost freezing, LOL! Seriously I love these socks.At first I was skeptical that they would not fit. They look extremely small and I have very small feet and very large calves. But they fit like a glove. After wearing them all day, my feet were not sweaty, not overheated and definitely not cold. I wore them with a pair of walking shoes and had no issues - even in the snow. At the end of very long days - 16 hours in these babies - no smell either. That's a first for me!Highly recommend these. I might even wear them in Florida this winter :)

Ok here goes. I was really looking forward to getting these socks because I have issues with my feet getting extremely cold in the winter, and the ratings were pretty good. Well I got them today and tried them on. Yes they are thick, and yes they seem like they would be warm , but oh boy do I have an issue with these socks! First of all, one sock is not sewn the same as the other. As you can see in the pictures, seams on the right foot toe area is more fitted than the left, which bulges out at both sides of the seams. They say that they are virtually smooth and seamless making them more comfortable. NOT AT ALL!! The seams are extremely bulky. Even though one sock is a bit better than the other, neither is comfortable, and would be painful on the sides of the toe areas in any size shoes or boots, unless maybe they are 3 sizes larger than your feet! But of course if you had to do that just so your toes don’t hurt, then your shoes/boots would fall off your feet!! I’m going to have to return them, but I’m really not feeling much like going into a store to ship them back since I am high risk for COVID. For the price of these socks I would have expected better! I don’t recommend these at all!

I've worn Darn Tough for years and even though they offer a very real lifetime replacement warranty if a sock breaks down or rips, I've never considered sending them in because I've gotten MORE than my money's worth. The durability and comfort is as good as you'll get. And these are no different. A lot of expedition weight socks will really tighten a boot up but these feel just as comfortable as any of their warm weather offerings. I'm in the snow and cold a lot and I've yet to feel any bunching or the need to pull them up. And they definitely deliver on the warmth. And the added Darn Tough bonus that really makes a difference if you're out there very a while is their amazing lack of stink. People might see a price tag that's a bit higher but this is the perfect example of "Buy Once-Cry Once." Worth every penny. So if you're on the fence with these and need something will deliver for a long time...just go for it. You'll be glad you did.

I’m a fan of Darn Tough socks in general, but these are a whole new level of awesome. First of all, these are very cushioned in the feet for extra squish and support. Second, the inside has kind of a fluffy material lining it, making these perfect and very warm for cold weather hiking and other spring/winter/fall outdoor activities. As a very blister prone person, I did not get blisters in these socks even on longer hikes due to the inside material. Finally, these are knee socks that actually stay up, actually reach just below my knees like they’re supposed to instead of some awkward point halfway up my calf, and don’t feel constricting at all. I seriously want multiple pairs now!
