An Interesting Take on Coffee
While at its core this is still a ground coffee very similar to a standard cup of Folgers or Maxwell House, there are some things here that I really like. From a taste perspective, the coffee was really good but not the best I’ve had. I personally prefer the taste of super rich dark roast ground coffee, but this medium roast blend was still better than I was expecting, even if it was similar to some other brands. The taste definitely does have a richer, sweeter profile to it compared to the competition, but it is largely the same for the most part. However, the thing that I thought was really good and makes the coffee work, is the "power blend" itself. I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not, but I did feel like a cup of this coffee gives me way more energy and mental clarity than a cup of any other basic coffee. So the entire focus on energy and workouts is definitely working with this coffee. I don't do a lot of workouts, but I do a lot of work that requires a lot of mental concentration and endurance, and I feel that this definitely delivers on every aspect of that.Overall, while it is far from the best coffee I have tasted, it is definitely the best in performance. So, depending if you drink coffee for taste or if you drink it for energy will ultimately be the determining factor in whether this product is right for you, but I would highly recommend it nevertheless.

Subtle effect as a pre-workout, but the coffee itself is bland and stale.
Ah, coffee. There is so much variety in coffee, not only in brand/roast/region/bean type but also in preparation method. My preferred type of coffee is an unflavored whole bean dark roast from Papau New Guinea prepared as an iced Americano, but at long as it's not from Columbia, I generally enjoy most coffee, prepared as drip (in an SCA certified home brew machine, of course), in a French Press or a Moka pot.As this is pre-ground, it's a challenge to make an Americano with it. It's a medium grind designed to be ideal with most drip coffee makers, and much too coarse for an espresso machine to be able to pull the flavor out. So, I put it in a rotary grinder and re-ground it so I could run it through my espresso machine. The resulting shot was okay, but not as flavorful and delicious as I'm used to. The coffee tasted flat and had no depth. A little stale. Thinking it was my preparation method, I then brewed some in a moka pot. That was also flat, lacking the nuanced flavors I generally get out of those two brewing methods. In my Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker where I typically get a delightful cup of drip coffee, it had a similar, flat flavor. I tried this coffee brewed three ways, and each way was equally flat and lacking. It doesn't have the sour tang of Columbian beans, but has a muddy, watered down and slightly stale flavor that really takes the joy out of coffee. I get none of the apricot or chocolate listed in the tasting notes, only muddy and stale boredom with zero complexity. Now - to be entirely fair - this coffee isn't designed just for flavor. It's designed to work as a pre-workout and is infused with L-tyrosine, B23 and glycine. I can't say I've experienced any earth-shattering bursts of power or significantly increased endurance on days I've drank it, but I do feel like I can go a little bit farther when I have a cup. But unless I put a bunch of other stuff in it to mask the stale flavor, I can't enjoy this very mediocre tasting coffee. If you usually add flavored creamers, you'll probably be fine with this, and the added boost of oomph will make your workout go just a little farther. While sometimes I want my coffee to taste like dessert, usually I just want a drink that can stand on its own, and this is not that.

An okay coffee, but too mild in flavor
I’m a huge coffee drinker. Personally, I’ve always preferred a darker roast. This is NOT a darker coffee. The roast itself isn’t bad. The coffee looks to be ground with a drip machine in mind. I brewed this using an AeroPress, my preferred method for making coffee. While brewing, it gives off a nice coffee smell.Drinking it black, it has a very mild flavor. I prefer cream and sugar in my coffee, but the flavor here lends itself well to be drank without. After adding cream and sugar, the flavor is even more mild. It barely has a coffee flavor to me, and tastes more like mocha than coffee. If someone told me it was a cup of hot chocolate, I would probably have believed them. When adding cream, you can actually tell how light the coffee is. It only takes a bit of creamy to lighten it to the point where I would normally drink a darker blend with double the cream. Like I said at the start, I personally prefer darker blends. I didn’t notice any difference in how it affected my body versus regular coffee, so I can’t really speak for the “power” aspect of the marketing. For the price, I can’t really recommend this, except perhaps to someone that doesn’t normally like/drink coffee. THAT person may actually really enjoy this blend.
