Fab little sensor but needs power mods
EDIT: In some circumstances, the EHT160 will stop sending data due to power supply issues. This can be fixed by adding a capacitor across its local power rail, but it shouldn't need mods to perform its basic function.Wasn’t sure quite what to expect from this given its affordability, but I am pleasantly surprised.I use it with ESPHome, which has built-in libraries and exposes the following sensors:•eCO2 ppm•TVOC ppb•AQI and IAQ ratings•Temperature•HumidityeCO2 and TVOC are essentially proportional for indoor air quality measurements and it cannot discriminate between the two, but its nice that it gives an absolute value so its super easy to use in automations etc. AQI seems to always be 4 or 5 indoors despite having mostly fresh air, so not sure about that calculation.Temperature is measured by a separate chip which is (somewhat) thermally isolated from the rest of the board, but bear in mind the air quality chip is oven-controlled and there’s a pretty hot sot23 near it. I wouldn’t rely on this as an ambient measurement (this is the only gripe I have with this board) but it works ok for compensation, which is also built-in!It even does a passable job as an outdoor air sensor, when properly protected.
