Once you've made your batter (I used a Jamie Oliver recipe for griddle pan waffles) it takes only 2-3 mins per waffle. The nonstick surface is excellent, had no problems lifting my cooked waffles off. Although, I understand that this can vary depending on recipe -the enclosed leaflet gives some tips on this. I used a recipe that I already had so cannot comment on the recipes that came with the maker.I would comment that, to me, this is more of a fancy pancake maker as the waffles it produces are relatively thin and don't have those wonderful recesses that syrup and sugar can lodge in, so if you are looking for those waffles with the deep squares in them, this isn't the one for you. I did try to maker an extra thick waffle but it all just ran out over the sides.
