It is a good book that covers some interesting subjects but unfortunately it is a very euro or western centric collection. Apart from that I found the following factual errors in it:Section 02.10 - Lakes and rivers - page 59 - Does not mention Caspian Sea which is the biggest lake in the world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caspian_SeaSection 05.3 - Art - page 123 - What about Indian or Persian paintings and Islamic architectures?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_artSection 06.3 - The empires - No mention of Persian empire?! The Achaemenid Empire (550–330 BC), also called the "First Persian Empire" who ruled vast parts of Asia and Europe is not in the list but the much smaller Egyptian empire mentioned there!https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achaemenid_EmpireSection 06.4 - Wars - page 150 - Does not mention Iran-Iraq war that took 8 years but mentions Gulf War that took 1 year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Iraq_War

Give it some legs and call it a coffee table
I only know Tatarsky's work from his Eagle books so this is quite a departure. As always he's very readable. He manages to explain a wide range of topics in 200 odd words. World War One described in a couple of paragraphs has to deserve some sort of award. The book covers everything on the planet from the Big Bang to Twitter so it's all a little superficial, maybe a taster to encourage further reading. Shame there is no bibliography or reading list to aid this. The real clincher in this book though are the visuals. The facts and figures are continually brought to life in new ways. Could have done with being slightly brighter in choice of colours, but fab anyway.

A very charming book of facts - and looks amazing too
What a book - a labour of love, clearly. A mammoth of book of facts, wonderfully presented in colourful graphs and things like that. Kids and teenagers will really enjoy it - and learn from it. Thoroughly recommended!

Fantasic graphics and layout
A book which is not only useful, but beautiful to look at too. Bought this for my 13 year old nephew and it kept his interest for hours over Christmas. Very educational but easy to read and good chunks of data which are easy to remember thanks to the wonderful layout.

If you love facts you'll love this book.....
This book is titled Everything You Need To Know About Everything You Need To Know About. It's not wrong. There is pretty much all I needed to know! There are several My favourite chapter was the one on technology. Other chapters included those on space and modern culture. The book is greatly interesting for mainly everyone but especially those who like facts. The facts are accurate on every occasion and the book never fails to suprise you. On each page there is a little bubble telling a read around fact which can be interesting, bewildering and funny. The illustrations are very explanatory and are an aid to remembering the facts on each page. The author writes it in a way which makes amusing and interesting much more so than another book of its genre. It is an absolute essential for pub quizzes and those addicted to googling and earns a rightful place on my increasingly competitive bookshelf.
