I also quizzed him on definitions of terms which were pretty age appropriate, asked him to randomly spell words and asked other comprehension questions. He was able to remember most of the chapters he read and the characters. He’s only 7. His review is below. I love the story. My favorite one is the poem; When I was young. It took me just a few days to read the whole book It’s very cool. Review: Great tool for learning to read. - Too advanced for my beginner reader.

Good for 3rd to 4th
A little tough for going into third grade, but good for the summer after (going to 4th) to keep sharp.

Appropriate difficulty for 3rd grade
Great book. I bought two, one for my daughter, and one for my mom. My daughter and mom video call each other and my daughter reads aloud to my mom. My daughter is probably near the front of her 3rd grade class, and this book still has plenty of challenging words. The difficulty level seems appropriate for a 4rd grader. I'm going to buy the 4th grade reader next, but I'm unsure if the 4th grade reader will be much harder or not.

Hard for third grade and has mistakes
I read one story and already found mistakes as another reviewer mentioned. So disappointed. Says it’s 3rd grade level but I checked one story and it’s between 5-6th grade.

Not very pleasing and attractive to eyes for kids
Not good. It's boring for a kid. There is no picture, just stories written in mediocre fonts and presentation.

High Interest
Great Interest level for a proper short story book without pictures.
