It took 2 full days and nights of nonstop working for it to catch any bugs but it did. It caught fruit flies and mosquitoes too. I placed it right by my fruit bowl. The light is not bothersome and it is pretty quiet. Effective little machine.

I bought this fruit fly/gnat catcher because I have gnats from my house plants. While I've had success with the Garsum yellow sticky fruit fly/gnat traps, this uses a UV light and fan to attract/capture the gnats at night. It's so easy to use. You just plug it in and before you go to bed, just turn it on. There are three settings so you can turn it on/off or have it run for 6 or 12 hours with auto shut off. They also provide extra sticky boards. I open up the bottom and check the sticky board and there are a lot of gnats on it. I didn't have a big problem but there were a few flying around and this keeps the gnat population under control.

If you’re looking for an insect killer, especially flies..this machine isn’t it. I had running for 24+ hours and it doesn’t work. It’s very pretty to look at, but the fan isn’t strong enough to suck in insects.The Fan: At first I thought the fan noise wouldn’t be a problem. But the fan has a certain pitch and after awhile, it drove me nuts.I’m returning this item. Nice to look at, but doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do.

Works well but takes up counter space.

It brought a baaad fruit fly situation under control in a couple of days. Also it’s works very quietly. And it looks well made, meaning doesn’t look cheep like most things these days.Highly recommend!

Didn’t work for me

I was always skeptical of these types of things... but after being annoyed by little "fruit fly" type gnat looking things; I finally figured I'd try one. It works SO well; I went from having at least a few of them bug me daily (flying in front of my computer screen; and YES, I'm a clean person... no idea where they're coming from), to zero now... I'm blown away. I went to check the sticky pad where they gather after the first day, and am seriously impressed... there are far more trapped there, than I ever thought were present nearby. I'm actually writing this review because I came back to buy a couple more to place elsewhere.

Unfortunately it's worked super well for a month and then stopped working. I think the motor possibly went out since I tried another charging cord and it will sadly still not turn on.
