Linkind Matter Smart Plug, Works with Apple Home, Alexa, Siri, Google Home

I made the mistake previously and bought a slightly cheaper matter alternative to this product that had a smaller form factor that can only manage 10 amps that died on me in two weeks. After realizing my mistake, I went back to the company I trust and have bought countless matter devices from and saw that this better plug had better quality components (e.g., switch, transformer, etc.) and can operate 15 amp devices! In case you didn't know, most electrical outlets can operate a maximum of 15 amps (sometimes 20 with the outlet that has a slit in one of the eyes). I believe that I have purchased eight of these plugs for my home and office locations and the reliability, performance, and quality of these items are almost too good to be true for the price. I remember the days of the original wifi plugs with difficult setup and unreliable connections. Those days are gone! Finally, a smart plug that offers subchannel connectivity that does not congest already overloaded 2.4ghz channels. Many people don't realize that it's often no so much the product itself with older wifi plugs but the limits of older technology which are the reasons old wifi plugs are so hard to install or eventually fail due to limited wifi channels. Matter technology changes everything! My electronic personal assistant was instantly fighting me to set up these plugs even before I was able to open up the plug application! It is that easy. Just remember, this is new technology that eventually will make it's way to wifi 6 and higher routers meaning that if you likely do not have the firmware update yet, then you are stuck buying a hub that can support it. Even this being a relatively brand new standard, this plug works as advertised.

Easy to install with the app. Respond quickly with Alexa. Don’t overheat and seem safe to use.

The Linkind Matter smart plug was replacing a WEMO smart plug. The Matter plug almost setup itself it was so easy! As my WEMO plugs stop working I will definitely be replacing with these.

I got these because I wanted to try out Matter. Saw them on sale and based on the reviews these looked like a good starting point. I wanted to try these using Hubitat and Alexa to see how they worked. Hubitat: Hubitat does not commission matter devices yet, so I had to use the AiDot app. Adding the first plug was extremely easy. Once it was connected it automatically updated the firmware. This is a big plus. Added the outlet to Hubitat with zero issues (had to change the device type from device to generic matter outlet). Works perfectly. Alexa: Using the Alexa app didn't go so well. Alexa app kept failing at connecting your device. I reset the outlet (hold the button for 5 seconds until it flashes red) and tried again. Same problem. So I reset it again and added with the AiDot app. Again no issues and it updated the firmware. So this meant the outlet was not faulty. So once the firmware was completed, I deleted it from the AiDot app and reset the outlet. I tried the Alexa app again and it failed. So I moved the outlet 2 feet from one of my echo dots (previously it was about 15-20 feet away from 2 echo dots) and it connected and worked with no problems. Conclusion: I prefer to have my devices controlled locally vs cloud. I also don't prefer to use Alexa Skills if I don't have to. Too many times both Amazon and the other party are making changes and it will cause skills to stop working or have issues. So I removed the one from Alexa and added back in with the AiDot app to use with Hubitat. I have been using them for 2 weeks now and have had no issues with them falling of the network or not responding via Hubitat. We will see long term how they work. Not sure if the problem others are having with these are related to Alexa, firmware not updating or their wifi network. Not clear if the initial issues I had were an Alexa app/dot issue, the firmware, the distance from the dots or both. If I get anymore I will try to do more troubleshooting to see if I can figure it out. Hopefully as Matter matures there will be less issues like these.

10/10! I have 6 of these in my home and have two at my father’s that I am able to control from my AiDot App. Very easy to install. Very easy to set schedules. I’ve even sent some to my family members.

I'd give it 0 stars. Ordered two of them... EVEN READ THE MANUAL... could not get them to connect to Home Automation over Matter. THEY DO NOT CONNECT TO HOME AUTOMATION OVER MATTER. Keep reading if you wish, but that's the issue. Our current set up has 10 Amazon Matter switches and 8 smart Matter bulbs. They all worked perfectly, still do. In fact, yesterday I installed the last of my Amazon Matter switches and they are back ordered... that's why I bought these two. Now, before you think I'm a clueless old guy, let me tell you I was working on the Internet when we called it DARPAnet. I've been doing Internetworking for years, my home LAN is extensive. So, I know my way about such things. Remember, I have a working Matter based Home Assistant set up... I verified it works, I verified my Android phone is on the same 2.4Ghz as the switch, I verified my phone has Bluetooth enabled, I verified that IPv6 is enabled in my HomeAssistant server.... I verified my HomeAssistant controls the existing automation. All I can think is that my daughter installed an Alexa based system and we coexist... meaning that some of the Matter lights can be controlled both by Alexa and HomeAssistant. Perhaps the fools that wrote the firmware for these PoS switches didn't think of that and Alexa is automatically capturing the device away from Home Assistant? Any way, it could be the boneheaded Apple way of thinking... making it easy, so that it only works their way? In any event, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE SWITCHES FOR HOME ASSISTANT. If you are running Apple or stuff like that, be my guest and experiment, but don't throw away the box.

I really liked the easy set up of the Linkind Smart Plug on my Apple devices. The AiDot matter plug linked very well with the Alexa app. Download the AiDot Plug app by scanning the code in the instructions. Plug it in and allow Alexa to discover it. I named each plug for each tree location and put them a group for controlling them together. I bought six plugs for six trees, and I simply say “Alexa, Merry Christmas“ and all of the tree lights come on. When going to bed at night, I say “Alexa, turn out the lights” and Alexa turns out the lights. I have also used the scheduling aspect of the plugs and had them go off at 11 PM automatically. Some times, when we are leaving home for a short period of time, I go into the app and turn just the front room tree on by itself. When we return home we just simply say “Alexa, Merry Christmas”, and the rest of the trees light up to join the front room tree. It was definitely a good purchase and is much more convenient than going to each tree and turning them on individually. My wife love it!
