It's strong enough to light my big backyard?

They are fairly bright and will light up a fairly big area. if you set in dim and then something sets off the motion sensor they become bright so that they will last all night

How long do the batteries last ?

I've only had these outside for a week, but they're working great. I don't know how long the batteries will last, but mine are still going strong! It's solar-powered, so as long as you put it in a spot where it can soak up some sun, it should work just fine.
