I have an incoming 5th grader whose district testing (Orange Unified in California) transitioned from COGAT to OLSAT this year for testing for GATE admission. She did this practice test and got into GATE. She said the questions were easier which probably makes sense because I seem to have bought the book for the grade level above (incoming 6th grade). Either way it was helpful to her because of the detailed answers/ explanations to the questions in the back of the book. I have bought the yellow COGAT books before and the kids didn't like them. I prefer this test and book. Would recommend!

Used this to prepare my 6th grader for a school entrance test. It was more for exposing him to the types of questions these types of test require; to help him think differently, more broadly. I had him write his answers on a separate piece of paper so I could reuse the book for other children. The explainations on how to get the answers are fantastic and an important part of what makes this book a brilliant addition as a teacher’s aid. As you don’t actually get the results of your child’s school entrance test, I can only say my son said this book helped prepare him well and that many of the same types of questions were on the actual test.

This book is awesome. It helped my daughter understand what to look for and breaks down how to understand the pattern.

If your child has to prepare for the OLSAT Test this is short but sweet and will help your child achieve his/her goals.

Naturally, you would think this book comes with 2 tests. One for 5th grade and 1 for 4th. The contents also state there are 2 tests. However, it only includes ONE test. The pages after 40 (41-55) were missing. So I read the cover carefully one more time - ONE test. Shrug, anyway think you should know before place an order.

Very thin book but it’s ok. It has practice tests in it with answers.

Only one test provided. Explanations are ok but some of the questions are still ambiguous at best.
