A compact and sturdy automatic opening umbrella.
I received this umbrella with a request for an honest and impartial review. The folded umbrella is a compact 32 x 6 cm and weighs 425 grams so is easy to carry in a bag. It has a slide in cover made from the same black material as the umbrella. The cover has a hand loop of fabric for carrying. There is no hand loop on the umbrella itself. The umbrella handle has a leather-like feel which is nice to the touch. The handle has a chromed push button about 1 cm across. To open the umbrella you first release the popper on the fabric band that holds the umbrella fabric tightly together, then press the button. The umbrella springs into shape, rather like a magician pulling a bunch of flowers from a sleeve. When opened the umbrella is around 104 cm in diameter. The ribs appear to be of all-metal construction and each rib contains a spring which collectively make the umbrella pop open. The umbrella feels robust and the opening mechanism is strong so make sure you have a clear space before opening. You close the umbrella manually in the normal way. Once closed you wrap the fabric and hold it in place with the strap and popper. This needs to be done tightly as the umbrella is a snug fit in the cover. The cover and the wrap around strap both carry the E-PRANCE logo, otherwise the umbrella fabric is plain black in colour.Overall the umbrella works very well. A quick spin before folding seems to get rid of most of the moisture so no real need to leave it open to dry, though I would tend to if there’s the opportunity.

A breath of wind and this goes inside out like Diana Ross
I really wanted to like this brolly. It appeared well-made, has a good size canopy and the auto-open and close function works really well. Unfortunately, it is definitely not 'strong' nor 'windproof' as described, and even a moderate gust of wind turns it inside out. It survived the first time this happened, but the second time 3 spokes were irrevocably broken. I'm not talking storm force winds either, just typical English weather. My last umbrella lasted 10 years, this one didn't make it past 1 month! If you live in a wind-free zone, feel free to bump this up to a 4 or 5 star product, but I don't know where that place is in the British Isles...

Brilliant reliable and waterproof
Love this umbrella. Strong against the wind and does not hold water. This is my second purchase of the same as my daughter loved mine and wanted her own. She's a happy bunny now. No more embarrassment in high winds

old-school charm
I was kindly sent this umbrella for honest reviewing purposes.* About the materials:My first impression was that it has an old-fashioned charm to it: the handle is made of a leather-like material with a smart-looking shiny silver button for the auto-open/close mechanism. The umbrella also closes with a tick-tack clasp rather than velcro which adds to the old-school, stylish, classic feel of the materials used. The whole umbrella feels well-made and sturdy. My impression is that's it's made of good quality materials.* About its size:It measures about 33cm end to end when closed. It's a good size for fitting into a backpack or large purse.* About its weight:It feels to me like a standard weight. I have no way of measuring its weight at home but the product description says its 435g.* About the opening / closing mechanism:It has the standard button-press to pop it open, and the same one button press to collapse the canopy. It opens smoothly and non-aggressively with a confident "swhoop" and a slight ringing of springs, and collapses a little loudly with a "crack".Pushing the shaft closed requires a bit of force and strength and sometimes took me more than one try to click it into place but I think this wouldn't be a problem if you're strong (I don't have the strongest arms myself). It folds closed with a stud-press clasp (a nice change from the more frequently seen velcro).* About the canopy size:It's a large canopy - very genrously sized. I measured it to be about 104cm across at its widest points (that's over 1 metre!). It can easily fit more than one person under the canopy - easily!* About the handle:Comfortable to hold. The handle is quite chunky and is a good length so it fits your whole hand comfortably and it's made of a type of leather-like material.* Overall:I liked this umbrella. The one point for improvement is the slight effort needing to push the umbrella closed (and for that I took 1 star off my rating), but other than that, it's a nice item with a classic old-school-charm design.
