This is My Go-To Pan
I LOVE this stainless steel skillet! I was tired of having to replace the non-stick ones which morph into "super-stick" skillets as they lose their coating. I didn't know how easy cleaning stainless steel is until I started using my Instant Pot which I also purchased on Amazon.Did some quick research on how to use stainless, but basically don't add ANY food until it's pre-heated and then lightly oiled. Doesn't stick much if you preheat to the correct temp. Whatever does stick soaks off with a little water, which I add as soon as I finish cooking. Now I use this skillet almost daily.Great for big omelettes, frittatas, quesadillas, multiple fish fillets. It also finishes sous vide steaks and chops beautifully, searing in just a minute a side. This pan is wider than most of the electric skillets I've used before, and it's also shallower. The upside is an omelette will spread out and cook faster or more pancakes or sausages can be cooked at the same time. The downside is it took awhile to get used to the shallower pan and stop stirring food over the edge when I had a lot of contents - i.e. stir fried rice and veggies. The other thing to note with the wider pan is to watch liquids for recipes you want to simmer for a sauce like chili, taco meat or stir fry. A cup of water can evaporate before you even add the spices because the pan is so wide. This skillet really is pretty enough to set on the table as a serving piece.I love it and will never buy non-stick again.

great pan
My cucina was a replacement for a Farberware pan. The Cucina was ok.. sharp edges but early on the temperature seemed to be on or off... it didn't function properly. I had it at least 5 years and it died. This is my replacement pan . It was much less expensive, has smooth edges more like the Farberware and seems to cook just fine. It did come with a warning to allow the pan to completely cool before washing. Who knows, perhaps that is what happened to the Cucina.. I am pleased with this pan . It gets used at least 5 times a week.Jan 2016 update. I just had to replace the once beloved cucina.. It didn't last. Why doesn't Farberware bring back their pan... nothing compares to a great pan that lasted 20 plus years. This one.. about one year into use , it lost a leg so I cooked wobbly style until my husband made a wooden block but more annoying... the thermostat stopped being accurate fairly early in its life....basically on or off ... the same problem with the last one that was more costly and from reviews... every manufacturer seems to have this problem.. They certainly are not using the science of aerospace.. Everyone must be buying these thermostats from the same producer... probably in China. Can somebody carry a pan produced in Germany... usually, they have quality. I am now using a zojirushi... grill pan.. the entire bottom heats instead of the typical thermostat controlling the circular heating element. It is a non stick surface, a first for me. It is interesting for me to use but the jury is out. Amazon.. please find some products made in Germany and convince them to export. So tired of NOTHING to buy but junk. I thought junk was what came out of communism in the 50's... ha ha...

Fantastic skillet, needs care.
I wanted to use this for a long time before reviewing. I’ve cooked dozens of meals on it and feel that I have a good grasp on its ups and downs. First of all, don’t use forks or metal cookware with this surface, as it will scratch and make the surface harder to clean. Second, cook at a slightly higher temp than you normally would and things will stick less. As it’s stainless steel cooking with a fat or oil will certainly help too. Before the unit cools after cooking dump a cup of hot water into the pan and cleaning it after your meal is pretty easy.I searched for ages for a stainless steel skillet that wasn’t outrageous in price and I’m so happy that this one finally showed up. I experienced none of the uneven heating some other reviews mentioned. It all works great and cooks evenly on my unit. And I’ve used it enough now to feel comfortable saying it feels like it’s going to last.I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

Great skillet for the price
UPDATE: We purchased this in February 2014. It died May 2015. I started smelling something like saudering earlier this week. Today, the unit started smoking where you plug in the cord to the skillet. I made sure there was no food or grease in there and tried again. At the 225 temp, it doesn't smoke, but if you go over that, it starts smoking. We really loved this skillet while it lasted- but I wish it had lasted longer. I don't want to spend $60 a year on a new one.-------We love this skillet! With propane so high, we decided to try an electric skillet and wait out the prices. After some research, we settled on the Aroma. This skillet cooks really great. The heat is fairly even - which is unusual in most electric skillets. Of course, the middle is always warmest, but the outer edges are always close in temperature. For cleaning, if you get a tough stain just put a little vinegar in it and put it on low. Bring to a boil and unplug. The stuck food comes right off. Be sure to season after you do this! Also, watch the bottom. There are holes in the bottom - probably to let it breathe - but these can easily get water in them. Be extremely careful if you run water in the skillet.I've used this to cook enchiladas, spaghetti, meatballs, crumbled meat, homemade tortillas and more. Pancakes take longer to cook than in an iron skillet - because electric skillets don't hold heat like iron - but I just add a little extra cooking time. This cooks hot, so you will rarely go over 300 degrees.
