It is a Bible, contains only the truth
It is a prayer book, I use all the time. The word of God is never enough. I recommend it to all.

Great compact Bible!
I bought the 'compact edition', which is small, but quite 'thick'/chunky. At first I thought I wouldn't like that, but then I realised, I could open it up and it STAYED open! Which is great! I also like the fact that it has 3 ribbons, and the notes are really quite interesting-thought provoking in places, especially the book of Tobit I'm now reading with a whole new view-point! I also like being able to look up where certain readings are read in the Liturgical year (and knowing that these are the exact same words I hear in church-as it's the Jerusalem translation with the Grail psalms),all in all I think it's very good value for money.

Great for following mass
A great bible for following mass. Text is small but readable, and means the bible is reasonably compact. Notes are extensive, introductions to books are great, and the liturgical calendar at the back is fantastic. Having the entire three year cycle calendar means you can find that days readings with ease. My only criticism would be that the binding is glued, not sewn. However, for the price and what you get, this is perfectly understandable.

Beautiful product
Excellent quality product. The covers are very strong and solid and the pages easily to turn as the paper used feels very soft to touch, like silk style paper. It has two strings of different colour wihich I find very useful to mark pages. Content is comprehensive and with lots of extra information on the bible books. Love it.

Good and bad
Good points: - handy size, and the text is NOT too small in the Standard edition, although the notes may be for some - it's the original Jerusalem Bible, which was thankfully not deformed by gender-inclusivist mistranslations - certainly not the most 'literal' translation, but written in beautiful English and many of its paraphrases are very insightful - the term 'Yahweh', which was never used by Jesus or His Church, is systematically replaced by 'the Lord' - two useful ribbon bookmarks - sturdy cover and binding - reasonably priced Bad points: - excessively thin, easily damaged paper - distracting bleed-through from opposite side of page (so bad in fact that you may be tempted to return the book) - scandalously unfaithful modernist notes, many of which directly undermine the divine inspiration of the Sacred Scriptures themselves

Although letters are bit hard to read. I still like it coz it’s compact in size.

This Bible is very good for Catholics, that are not born anglophone. Whether you would like to read, what is reading in the Holy Mass, you can read it and better understand. The english is very understandable. At the end of the book is a reading order for every weekday and sunday mess, included the Holy holidays. The readers of this text can see, that my english isn't really good, but even thoug this traduction is good understandable. It is the litugical Translation, how it is used in the catholic Mess and the Psalms are in the version how they were used while the Hourprayer (Laudes, Vesper, Komplet). Very good. I like it!

I very much like the translations for the clarity, simplicity and style. The text is not too small and easy on the eye. The notes can be very odd, given that the book is touted as a Catholic Bible, since they generally point out contradictions or historical inaccuracies. I have the paperback version and the cover is now starting to come unstuck, as I arrive half way through the Old Testament.

I have had my copy of the CTS New Catholic Bible for a while now, and I can simply say that I am 100% pleased! The refinements made in the Jerusalem Bible text which comprise this Bible make for a smooth, accurate read. Changed, for example, is the name "Yahweh" which is now "LORD" in keeping with the Vatican's wish that the former no longer be used out of respect for God's name. One thing that I never loved about the Jerusalem Bible was its less-than-poetic translation of the Psalms. These always felt to me to be too literally translated, thus killing their rhythm and poetic nature. In the CTS Bible, the Jerusalem Bible Psalms are replaced with the Grail Psalms which is the translation used in the Hours and are familiar to many Catholics. One more thing that I am so far pleased with is the apparent avoidance of "inclusive," stilted language which was, for me, a big cringe-worthy negative with the NEW Jerusalem Bible. The Size of this Bible (4"x6"x2") is PERFECT for travel. Yes, the print is small, and some reviewers have complained about this. However, I wear glasses, and find it easy to read even for my ancient eyes. I will admit, though, that the footnotes, which are smaller in size, take a little more concentration on my part to read, but are still very readable! Due to the compactness of this Bible, there are neither as many nor detailed footnotes as was the case with the old Jerusalem Bible, although those included are adequate and informative, in my opinion. Four maps are included (two at the front and two at the back of the Bible). These are nicely done and are helpful. In closing, I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful little Bible, and I hope that you will find it to be the blessing that it is for me!
