To Hell With The Devil

From 86' - To Hell With The Devil cd!.

80's metal, pop metal, hair bands ruled mtv & some had radio play. Stryper stuck out for being very good at metal music while sporting the yellow & black. But, their biggest claim to fame is Jesus Christ is why they do what they do. Still doing it today. This is their big hit album. 3 video hits on mtv & their ballad, Honestly, had radio play. The greatest part of this album, though, is there are better hits on it that were not singles. It's a fun album.

Bands like Skillet and Pillar got NOTHING on Stryper! Stryper has the awesomeness and uniqueness that those other bands of today just don't have! Stryper sings about God AND has awesome guitar solos, melodies, vocals, and every song sounds different! There's NOTHING greater than hearing an album about my Savior, Jesus, and hearing the AWESOME music itself along with it! NOTHING!! To Hell With The Devil is the greatest Christian Metal anthem ever! I don't know how any fan of Christian Metal cannot love this song! Honestly is the greatest Christian Metal ballad ever and will leave you breathless! Honestly (no pun intended), this album is the greatest Christian Metal album ever put out and it's a MUST for any Christian Metal fan's collection! I recommed getting the band's entire collection but this album is the first one you must buy!

Come on, admit it.... you remember the old days when MTV actually played music, watching the Stryper videos playing and rocking out to the music. I got the urge to hear some of their classic hits again, so I picked up the first four CDs via Amazon. I fully expected to listen to them now and think, "Huh, I remember them being so much better than this...." I was wrong. Their original songs still rock as hard today as any other band out there in their sound genre. They didn't go for half the gimicky sound that some of the bands had, they just stuck to a standard rock & roll formula that worked, and it sounds just as great today as it did back then. Well worth the meager price paid for the CDs. ;-)

Stryper, TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL, CD reissue of 1986 vinyl Lp. Running time on this set is 40:53. The album features four rockers, the title track (#2), "The Way" (track #5), "Rockin' the World" (track #8), and "More Than A Man" (track #11). The opening track with a short running time, "The Abyss," seems to be a CCM answer to AC/DC opening chords for "Hells Bells." The balance of the album features more keyboard ballad love songs than hard rock tracks, which puts this album more AOR pop- than Metal- oriented. I think the soft tracks were dictated based on Stryper still being a CCM act than a hard rock act; considering that four of those tracks were spun off on 45 singles, and "All of Me" was the first hit single from the album, albeit as a CHR chart hit on the CCM song charts (album cuts) beginning 12/22/86. At the time, the Christian bookstores were more soft-serve retail conservative (like the '50s era when Pat Boone white cover records overshadowed the better r&b originals) than New Wave era regular mall retail, and Christian radio might have revolted with guitar rock anthem songs instead of softer keyboard pop sounds. Stryper's style on this release has a lot of Top-40 pop Styx sugar in it and not so much, well, Bon Jovi (bubblegum metal), let alone Quiet Riot or Twisted Sister. The album had the distinction of appearing first on the Billboard 200 Pop album chart in late November, 1986, then three weeks later debuted on the Billboard Top 40 Inspirational Albums chart. At the time (12/13/86) Stryper had three albums on the Inspirational Albums Christian bookstore chart. The album went RIAA Gold Record Award some 89-90 days (2/19/87) after initially charting, remained on the album charts for more than a year, and certified RIAA platinum on 1/06/88. Stryper had a second hit spun off the album, "Honestly" on the CHR charts in CCM magazine, beginning May 25, 1987, then the single on Enigma 75009 crossed over several months later on the the Billboard Hot-100 and Cash Box Pop Singles' charts in early November, 1987, peaking at #23 and #25, respectively. Softer than I'd like and this CD is missing the original then-controversial Lp cover art. The original cover art is a CCM version of something like Lynyrd Skynyrd's STREET SURVIVORS' recalled "flames cover."

Stryper's "To Hell With the Devil" album is my favorite album of ALL TIME, in ANY genre. I've had it on 2 cassettes, now have it on CD and plan on getting the RECORD so that I can play it on my vintage STEREO! I've been a fan of Stryper from the beginning and was SO excited to find out (just a few months ago)that they were touring and making albums again--I'm waiting for them to have a concert near Nashville, so I CAN GO SEE THEM! Every song on the "To Hell With the Devil" Album is amazing. It has everything from hard rock to soft songs. I've been married for 44 years but if I were to get married, today, I would want "Honestly" and All Of ME" in my wedding. It's a great album and if there were more than 5 stars it would get them all, in my book! ILOVE IT!

I just got it in the mail today and decided to pop it into my portable CD player( LOL yeah I still have one of those). It works Great and Looked like it came right out of a store somewhere. It also sounds Great, no skips that I detected. The album itself was very enjoyable! I had listened to quite a few Stryper songs before and was familiar with the album but had never listened to it from beginning to the end. All I can say is, I regret not listening to it sooner. Well worth the price I paid for it and more!

In my opinion this is the album that put Stryper on the pages of metal history. This may be considered one of the greatest Christian metal releases ever. I remember buying this on cassette back when it was released and being floored. I am typically a fan of heavier music but this album touched me in way that never left. I still listen to classic to this day and although until the recent release of No More Hell to Pay, To Hell With the Devil was my favorite album by this inspirational band. If you are a fan of good metal, christian metal or dare I say hair metal, do yourself a favor and give this album a listen. 2 thumbs up, recommended!

Trotzdem haben STRYPER mit "To Hell With The Devil" ein ganz starkes Stück Rock-Geschichte geschrieben. "To Hell With The Devil", "Calling On You", "The Way", "Sing-Along-Song", "Holding On" oder "Rockin'The World", hier reiht sich ein Kracher an den anderen - ganz großes Kino! To Hell With The Devil" in keiner Sammlung fehlen.
