Buying this item was certainly cheaper than buying a new clutch pencil everytime I ran out of graphite, the graphite does come pre sharpened but it doesn't hurt to sharpen them any further. The package was encased in bubble wrap, meaning no graphite was harmed.

This 4 H lead is hard to find. I really love Staedtler Mars lumograph lead is the best 2mm lead for all kinds of drawing.

They work great for sketching
I use mechanical pencils with various hardness 'leads' for sketching and drawing... these are fine refills that sharpen well for a reasonable price.
