Works well.
I like this much better then the older one my mother in law had. This one is faster & easier. It drills down into the dirt. Hers just scooped out the dirt in a clump & then you had to break the dirt up.

Strong and good, but…
I don’t think they’ll ever break, but the pitch of the cutting blades is shallow and won’t cut through hardened soil. If you’re trying to burrow through clay, they don’t work.

I love this because it actually fulfils my needs
It is easier to manage then a large auger My need is important, but small. I have been unable to handle the work I need completed, because of shoulder and leg injuries. This has given me that independence to do some work on my land I have been scratching my head about how I can do it. Thank you

Fantastic for installing solar patio lights.
Worked fantastic to put in solar patio lights in very hard packed ground. Cut through the dirt like butter.

Okay but limited
Better than digging by hand for sure but has its limitations. There is a learning curve to using it. First position your drill against your left hip so when it binds (and it will) you don’t break your wrist. This will go through pretty heavy soil as long as you move it up and down instead of just drilling straight in. The biggest issue is sometimes, no matter how careful you are, it will suddenly dig in and bind. Because the shaft is only 3/8” and 32” long, the first time you bind it’s going to bend a little. Once it’s bent even the slightest there will be a wobble that makes it hard to control. The wobble also causes the drill chuck to loosen. Overall it did okay as a stop gap until my power planter arrived but I would recommend buying one with a shorter shaft and dealing with the ensuing backache.

Bad design. Make it one piece.
The product is two piece, screws together in the middle. The problem was is that it unscrews when reversing the drill. Very poor design. I had to manually remove the bit from the earth.
