Trigun Deluxe Edition: Deep Space Planet Future Gun Action Hardcover – 10 Sept. 2024

Amazing quality! This is the nicest manga book I own (I don't own many, but still). It really exudes quality.

I'm so happy they have reprinted these! The pages are incredible quality and the art is amazing and the story and characters are of course, perfection.Can't wait to collect all of these!

To say I'm disappointed with the translation not being fixed, the various typos and now hearing of the gold foiling rubbing off even before the books are opened, it's given me and many others disappointment and asking what was the delay for if it wasn't for fixing the translation??And considering it's triguns 30th anniversary next year I thought more love would be given to a much loved series.All I'm hoping for is that maximum has more love than this one.It's disappointing to see dark horse neglect such a loved series

Positives: Good page quality (thick and opaque) with crisply printed lines. Debossed image on cover is clear and well defined. It has a sturdy feel to it. If you like large volumes (all dimensions, not just thickness) and aren't too fussy about the translation and quality control you might like this, though I would wait and see if it gets any cheaper.Negatives: Leather cover has several faults across spine and corners (loose dog-ear folds that stick out over the pages, lumpy along the spin) and the foil on the cover was already rubbing off when it arrived. The size of the book means it would hurt your wrists to hold it and read (though given the delicacy of the foil you might want to avoid that anyway). The English text still uses the translation produced a couple of decades ago during its original print (which has been out of print for years) which includes: lazy SFX translations, outdated anglicised names, and (most inexcusably) typos/grammar that should have been an easy proof read.This was originally slated to release towards the end of 2023 and was only delivered in Sept 2024 so with such a delay it's very disappointing that this time wasn't put towards quality control and improving the existing translation & typesetting (which I would expect out of a "deluxe" edition when the original hasn't been in print for years). Also despite being a preorder, it didn't seem to arrive any earlier than those who ordered it when it released. Certainly will not be preordering the other deluxe versions and unless the overall quality improves I'd rather wait and see if a reprint of the standard editions of Trigun Maximum is on the cards, as I would not recommend this version. In comparison to other deluxe editions I've seen and own, it seems to be really lacking.

Really disappointed that despite being a "Deluxe Edition", the contents of the book are just a lazy copy paste without fixing any of the grammar/spelling issues or the translation as a whole.
