Fantastic griddle!
I had mixed feelings about this pan when I first used it. The first two times cooking on it, I learned the hard way that I had made a BIG MISTAKE. I made pancakes, and first sprayed the griddle with cooking spray. The second time I made pancakes, I just rubbed a light coating of oil on it. The pan ended up with a gunky coating that I had to use a Dobie pad to scrub off, because it sort of got cooked onto the surface. The next time I made pancakes on this pan, I used ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (not even butter)! The pancakes, when they were ready, released like magic!!! It made beautifully golden brown pancakes. This non-stick pan is wonderful! You really don't need to coat it with anything! You just cook on it, and food does not stick. I am still amazed after using this for about a month now, and it still looks like new. I just make sure to use nothing higher than medium or med/high heat, and use a silicone spatula instead of metal. Cleanup is also very easy! After cooking, just let it cool down a bit (but still hot/warm), then squirt some Dawn and water on it in the sink, and let it sit in the suds while you eat. Afterwards, just give it a quick swish with a cloth and rinse. This is one of the few cookware pieces I do not put in the dishwasher -- although I did try it once, and it came out fine, but had water spots. So now I always give it a quick hand washing to keep it looking beautiful. But it is SO easy to clean, you won't even mind! I have uploaded photos showing the aluminum disc on the bottom (that provides even heating), and the ceramic titanium disc in the center. The pan comes with a small cover for the handle, but the handle never gets hot, so I never needed to use that. This pan was made in Denmark.Dimensions are:11 x 11 in. (outside)10.5 x 10.5 in.(inside)Handle: 8 in. and completely rounded all the way around (not flat).Height of griddle: .5 in.Height with handle: 1.5 in.Thickness of sides: 1/8 in.Here are the pros & cons I've found:Pros:1. Food does not stick, and you do not need to coat or spray pan2. Completely flat (not sloped), and has a nice size outer edge3. Pan does not warp4. Heats evenly5. Very comfortable stainless steel handle that is riveted for strength6. Handle stays cool!7. PFOA-free8. Sturdy, high-quality feel, that seems like it will last for many years9. So easy to clean up!Cons:1. Weight can be a bit heavy, especially when cleaning (but not a showstopper)2. Foods with a lot of oil or grease may need additional (Dobie) scrubbing to get the gunk out of the surface3. May not be in everyone's price range (my husband almost killed me for spending this much, but he now thinks it was definitely a worthwhile purchase! -- and one that will last a long time, since we were replacing non-stick griddles like crazy over the years)

Nice, heavy, pricey
Pricey but looks like it can take a drop. My mom’s 20 year old aluminum one is warped and busted, I have high hopes for this one. Plus the non-stick works pretty good, I’ve scrubbed everything off with little to no effort.

Best Griddle with a Safer non-stick Surface!
OK. This is the most expensive griddle pan I've ever purchased. Really I've only bought less than 3 and this is the most expensive one by far.So, I did my homework beforehand on this and really was hoping to get a great pan. Our old one had warped and no longer sat flat on our cooktop. We have tried a lot of "non-stick" cookware and lately are trying to also use the safest as well. So out with teflon, in with stainless steel and low heat cooking. However for the occasional grill cheese or omelet we really wanted a good griddle. This Scanpan exceeded our expectations. It also has a "non-stick" surface that in my opinion is way better than teflon. It is hard and durable. It also performs very well. After cooking I often just let it cool to a warm temp then lightly rinse under warm water with a touch of soap and rinse. Dry with a towel and return to cabinet. It's so easy to clean. It is also machined flat, is balanced, and doesn't seem like it is ever going to warp. Everything I was hoping for! This is a great pan. The other pan I was considering was a French brand that has removable and interchangeable handles, but in the end decided upon this brand. Very happy with purchase!** Update - 12.7.15 ** I just wanted to update after over 6 months of use by the whole family, teenagers included. The pan is holding up well despite others not being as careful with it as I am. I've taken a couple of photos to show that the finish is still great. There are no major scratches and the non-stick is still working perfectly. It also has remained perfectly flat. I am still very happy with the purchase!*** Update - 8.31.16 *** We used it in the oven for the first time on 425 F. The entire kitchen ended up smelling of a metallic burnt odor that was almost noxious to the nose. I vented out the kitchen by opening all the windows and putting in a fan that blew out one of the windows. After 20 mins the air was good to breath again. The pan looks ok. I was worried that it was damaged, but it appears to be fine. I guess that smell was the handle burning in? It is suppose to be oven safe to 500 F, and I know the cooktop has reached those temperatures for the past year under the griddle. I just wanted to mention this to anyone who is planning on using it in their oven. You may want to go ahead and "season" the pan (and handle) in the oven on 400-450 F for 30 minutes with a good vent fan exhausting the fumes or with windows open on a mild day. It may keep from ruining a meal. We are still very happy with this pan otherwise and would recommend it.
