Really poor quality item. Finish is not smooth - there are rough edges and the swivel hole is scuffed. The lid does not fit properly. The bottom of the box has a rough hole drilled halfway through, which is not shown on any of the pictures. It looks like someone has started to drill through the bottom and then stopped; the edges of the hole are rough and scuffed. Bought as a gift but quality is so bad I am returning.

Since I've always enjoyed cooking and trying to get better, I finally realized that a salt cellar was needed in my arsenal of kitchen tools. Aside from pouring salt into my hand just to get a pinch or two for whatever I was seasoning and throwing out the rest, which seemed wasteful and dumb, it wasn't efficient. So, I grabbed this salt cellar and it's really great. Simple, works well and does what it needs to do silently, cleanly and effortlessly. The wood seemed a bit TOO dry when I unboxed it so, I gave a liberal dose of mineral oil (on the outside ONLY!) and it drank it like a sponge, Works like a charm and looks good on my counter. Definitely recommend!

Looks sophisticated on the counter and keeps salt very well. I use it to keep larger grains of Kosher salt and I am very happy with this device.

Really like this container. Previously bought one using for salt and wanted one for pepper as well. Sadly the 2nd received was cracked. Requested a refund and ordered once again. Might be a bit fragile as the distance of the screw is really close to the lids edge. A 5 star of it wasn't for the received cracked one.Update: Received the new one super quick the day after ordering and in purrfect condition, thank you!
