Clickspring The Fire Piston - Survival, Camping, Hiking, Fire Starter

I just purchased and received the Clickspring Fire Piston. Its design and performance are both impressive - obviously the handiwork of a master machinist. It works very reliably with char cloth. I have yet to try tinder fungus, but plan to do so later tonight. I don't expect any trouble as long as I select a proper piece and not one that's old or hard as gravel. My older buffalo horn fire piston required more maintenance and did not perform nearly as trouble-free as the Clickspring Fire Piston. Note that the top and bottom caps both unscrew. The top cap, on the piston itself, hides a small storage compartment for a piece of foil-wrapped char cloth (YOU must place it there). The bottom cap can be loosened or removed to allow the piston to be pushed in fully for storage or provide access for cleaning (tolerances and seal are excellent). Currently comes with a modest supply of char cloth to get you started.

I have four fire pistons, this is the best working one. It also has the worst customer support of anything I own. The campfire works almost as well has a great customer support and costs about a third the price of the click spring. You decide what's important. The campfire is also covered in wood and comes with all kinds of spares The click spring comes with none. Just a little chat cloth.

A classical, fine and durable survival fire starter, esp. during raining & windy day that hard to have fire, more than what we have been expecting to an outdoor survival tool....It demonstrates very well the energy change of physics experiments to high-school kids ....We will buy more as gifts for families .....

It's a survival tool very happy to find for the moment I really do need it a part of my other fire kits that I could depend on.

Looks great but the grove that holds the char cloth at the tip of piston is not designed good.Anytime you strike the piston the char cloth comes out inside the sylinder.

This fire piston is good quality. However it is way overpriced for what it is.

Nice need to come with some clp works all the time...
