Good stories. And what a bargain!
Excuse my ignorance, but I had never heard of Neil Gaiman before reading this book. I’m not sure why I had never heard of him, but its true. I was looking for another book to read and this volume was on sale, and it looked to be chocked full of stories. Fifty-two by counting the contents several times. Fifty-two to Fifty-four. But I stand by fifty-two. What a bargain! So, I took a chance and have been delighted and highly entertained. Little did I know I was getting more than that, though. Many of Neil Gaiman’s stories are stories within stories. Stories told by characters within the main stories. Sometimes several stories or several stories deep. What a bargain is that?If you enjoy monsters and angels and mythical beasts of various sorts, real or imaginary, you will surely enjoy these pages. Obvious monsters. Hidden monsters. Scary monsters and polite monsters. They are all here together with an odd assortment of characters, some who may appear to be quite familiar. He turns the Snow White story on its head, makes a search for the Holy Grail quite polite and civilized and creates a whole lot of common daily scenes into something not so common. From Scotland to Los Angeles (that 30-minute city) and the worlds between worlds, he takes you on grand adventures. So, I’d recommend this book, even if you have never heard of Neil Gaiman.

At heart he is a writer of fantasy
All I can say is 'wow.' This book clocks in at over 700 pages. I've been a big fan of Neil Gaiman for years and I have read most of these stories before, but It genuinely feels like a book of greatest hits. In the intro he says that he doesn't really know how to categorize his writing, but come on, at heart he is a writer of fantasy.

Embalaje en buen estado, pero libro con desperfectos.
Me llegó el embalaje impecable, sin un solo rasguño, pero al abrirlo me encontré el libro en este estado (ver fotos). Como detalle, venía con una etiqueta como “reacondicionado”.

An Absolute Delight.
... I want to say, 'even the one where everyone dies' but that might need a spoiler alert.I'm always blown away by Neil Gaiman's excellent story-telling, he's a personal writer hero of mine and this collection of unique and wonderful tales has not disappointed. Some I'd read before; all I am delighted to see again in one place. I was glued to this from the point of receiving it and got nothing else done until it was finished. But this was escapist time well spent in the middle of a pandemic. Just magnificent and just the tonic. Best first line in a short story ever:'Mrs Whitaker found the holy grail; it was under a fur coat.'I guffawed, and I never use the word 'guffaw'.I adore Neil Gaiman's creative mind, it always takes the reader on a journey of unexpected, often darkly funny surprises. Read Reader for yourself, it's wonderful. In a world so sadly full of same-old, same-old stories being churned out at high online speed, it's refreshingly unique.I truly loved this. Thank you to the author for immersing me into a world of new places while cheering my week up. Yes, even when you killed everybody. But it was funny.
