I first saw this fat separator on an episode of America's Test Kitchen, and immediately wanted one. I happened to see it on Amazon and ordered it. It works really well, and exceeds my expectations!There's a strainer on top which catches any small bones or large particles. I especially appreciate that because I often braise oxtails or neckbones, both of which release tiny bones during cooking, and that are hard to find in the braising juices.The plug is very secure and leak-proof when closed. When opened, the liquid comes out slowly enough that I always feel in control.This fat separator is very good quality, and dishwasher safe. I ran it through the dishwasher, but the fat didn't all come off. If it doesn't come clean after going through a second cycle, I'll have to hand wash it. I've had the same problem with other plastics in the past. Even if I do have to take that extra step, it's still worth the purchase because it's a very handy item to have available when it's needed.

This separator makes it an easy job. Just hold it over a bowl and press the button. I really like it and it works every time.

Nice gadget. Only complaint is that it pours very slowly

Worth the price

The idea is great! It worked wonderfully the first two times we used it... third time though... it cracked across the bottom and leaked everywhere... despite being washed carefully and put back in its box and stored safely in our kitchen tools cabinet, when we used it to make gravy the other day we poured the stuff in as usual then noticed it was leaking a few minutes later... very sad as it was a gift and he loved it now I gotta get another one when we only had that one a few months

Used it after smoking a pork shoulder. Worked beautifully.

First time I used this item and it cracked from bottom to top and started leaking. Not recommended.

I have purchased several brands, and this one started leaking after the third use.
