DRIPSTER Cold Brew Dripper (4 cups / 600ml), Cold Drip Coffee Maker for cold-brewed coffee and tea

Als begeisterter Kaffeetrinker bin ich schon lange auf der Suche nach einem Zubereiter für Cold Drip gewesen, so viel kann ich verraten, ich bin jetzt fündig geworden. Bislang habe ich von einem Kauf abgesehen, da es in Deutschland keine mir bekannten Verkäufer gab. So kamen nur Geräte aus dem Ausland in Frage, die schnell mit mind. 150€ zu Buche schlugen. Ich erwähne aber das diese Designtechnisch weitaus schlechter da standen als diese Version von DRIPSTER. Service über das Ausland ist meist schwierig bzw. nicht möglich, aber jetzt wo ein Angebot über Amazon sogar mit kostemlosen Versand mit PRIME möglich ist, habe ich ohne zu zögern zugeschlagen. Kurze Erklärung warum Cold Drip : Bei ColdBrew hatte ich immer einen gewissen Anteil das Gefühl als würde das Extrakt nach Kaffeesatz schmecken, bei Cold Drip kommt mir das Extrakt viel klarer/reiner vor. Nur wie oben erwähnt gab es in Deutschland keine Verkäufer, das hat sich jetzt geändert. Das Gerät kam 1 Tag nach der Bestellung, Verpackung/Polsterung war ausreichend. Nach kurzer Erstreinigung habe ich den Dripster in Betrieb genommen. Der Driper macht einen Soliden Eindruck und durch das Glas bekommt es einen recht wertigen Eindruck. Die Einstellmöglichkeit ist präzise, benötigt aber etwas Fingerspitzengefühl bis man die gewünschte Häufigkeit der Tropfen geregelt hat. Ich habe mich diesmal ohne große Vorkentnisse an den Dripster gewagt und 30g helle Filterröstung (Mahlgrad für French Press) auf 2 Std. mit 300ml Wasser tropfen lassen. Geschmacklich sehr überraschend, ich hatte eigentlich nicht erwartet das es beim 1. gleich so gut klappt. Ich habe diesen am heutigen warmen Sommertag mit Eiswürfeln genossen, meine Frau mit einem schuß Milch. Beide haben wir die fruchtige Note des Kaffees deutlich herausschmecken können, kaum Bitterstoffe. Das Gerät ließ sich einfach unter fliessendem Wasser reinigen und abtrocknen. Von mir gibt es für den Dripster eine klare Kaufempfehlung, der Preis halte ich fast schon zu günstig für so ein gut verarbeitees Nischendprodukt.

Hi have just started testing out my new "Dripster" - and I must say I'm very impressed. I've followed their set -up and brewing instructions, and have been rewarded by a couple of very delicious cups of cold-brew. I took a lot of time to deliberate over my choice, as I knew I liked the "immersion" style cold-brew on a muggy summer morning, but the promise of a cleaner, more nuanced cup drew me into the realm of "drip" style. I can now safely say I'm a convert, and do not regret paying a bit more for a drip style apparatus. For those of you doing comparison shopping, the thing I noticed in Dripster's reviews was that no one seemed to be complaining about the drip stopping mid-process - which is almost unique for this kind of coffee-maker. I don't know for sure, but I have a hunch that the inventors spent a lot of time fussing over exactly that issue. They have chosen for their reservoir and valve what appears to be a very hydrophobic plastic - so the issue of water's surface tension resisting the reduced pressure head as the reservoir empties is much less of an impediment. Of course, this is a guess - but I do observe that water beads up on the surface, and does not spread out at all. regardless of the reason why - the drip rate is good, and pretty constant throughout the process. I also like that they have a handle that extrudes outside the plane of the rest of the "column", for easy drip rate adjustment (I used a metronome app on my phone for easy calibration of drip rate). I would add, though, that I think that this is also the Dripster's weak point, as it seems to me that this handle and the valve portion are pretty fragile and would not survive an interaction with a small child, or falling on a granit counter for example. It ain't stainless steel, shall we say. Finally, the coffee it yields is sediment-free (at least with my grinder) - and I'm using a grind a bit finer than that that I usually use for a French Press. So, in short, the whole system is very simple, easy to adjust, and gives great, sediment free coffee. It seems a bit on the fragile side, but that's not to be unexpected given the function.
