Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf

I was afraid. I still am...
After a botched robbery goes wrong, Virginia Woolf - a gangsters moll with a heart of gold, decides to take matters into her own hands. Drawing on her contacts from the seedy world of sex workers and organised shop-lifters, 'Big Ginny' assembles a crack team to pull off one last job. However her involvement with Geraldo, an itinerant poet and scultptor has unintended consequences. She must decide whether to follow her heart or follow the security van that Dirty Mrytle has tipped her off about. Expect thrills aplenty with this riveting read especially for those chapters seeing the welcome return of Mile End Dolores the Walking Thesaurus. A few too many car chases for my liking but a consistent attention to detail rewards fans both Young and old. Congrats Mr Albee I can't wait to read the next book in your series 'Virginia Woolf - Yeah wot of it slag?' as Big Ginny moves in on the prison black market for cigarettes and eye-liner...

Must read..............
This book which l'm only half way through currently, is very easy to read and follow, you're given a description of the four characters at the start which helps and it is written as the play with directions throughout such as the tone of what they're saying or doing whilst speaking which makes it easier to play the show out in your mind. Would recommend...........

Gritty , well written drama.
I’ve only been familiar with the Burton/ Taylor film adaptation , in fact it’s one of my all time favourite films, then I came across this book so I bought and read it..... I was not disappointed. Brilliant read .

Brilliant dialogue but not my taste
My problem with this brilliantly conceived play - a married couple play-act about their non-existent son, is - why do I want to spend two hours of my life listening to two drunkards tear each other apart in the most obnoxious, abominable way? Yes, the dialogue is top dollar, possibly the best I've read but I was waiting and wanting for the married visitors, Nick and Honey, to fight back. Instead they remain foils for George and Martha's non-stop vitriol. Glad I read it but the play is not on my 'best' list. Freak Out!: My Life With Frank Zappa

A satisfying classic
Never knew the main characters in this play were named after George Washington and his wife Martha. You can't help but visualize the goings on as you read. Like having the theatre in your own living room. Stunningly observant of characters, some great monologues. A satisfying classic.

Play was in very good condition for second hand. I liked the play a lot, some bits dragged on a little but definitely a good read

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Thai is a powerful play exposing the emotions of four people. That it holds together is due to the mastery of the author, Edward Albee. There is a grim fascination in watching the relationship of the central characters, George and Martha, grind remorselessly on to the end of the play. The language is harsh and too strong for some and it does not make comfortable viewing or reading. Every reader will bring themselves to the situation thinking, "I would have done that differently had I been in their place." The importance of the play is that it gives us the opportunity to examine ourselves and our own reactions.
