A beautifully formatted coffee table book
From tin can tourists to trailerites to today's RV nomads, motorized travel in the United States (and around the world) progressed as innovations made road travel more comfortable and affordable. The three authors of this wonderful book have pieced together an excellent summary of the highlights of trailering, something much more difficult than most people might think because of the array of models being produced along the way.If you're looking for a comprehensive history of RVing, this is not your book; its focus is narrow (trailers--no motorhomes) and is, as its title advertises, a "visual history," so there's little commentary. But that doesn't make it a waste of anyone's time. Students of RVing history will recognize much of what's in here, but there are a few gems (a two-story, five room rig was a surprise to me, for example, despite all the other books I've read on this subject), giving this book a unique spot on my shelf.Coverage of the link between early large, boxy trailers and the evolved mobile home of the type we see today was also something not often covered in other books, and I was happy to see it here--especially in visual form. This book is a good addition to any RV history collection, and it would make a great gift for the RVer with a trailer and a penchant for history.

THis is the ideal book for those of you who really are into the many styles and makes of the traveling trailer throughout the years past. I highly recommend this if your interests include RVs or camping with nature. The purchase of this book will lead you back in time with tons of illustrations, history, and explanations galore. A good supporting book to go with other Vintage Trailer books
This publisher does very nice bindings and good quality printing and color. Where this is a bit different from other vintage trailer books is the presentation of advertisments, trade show pictures, logos, promo material and other items that are a nice supporting document to go with trailer books that rely more on photos if individual trailers. I wouldn't recommend it as your first and only book on vintage trailers, but an excellent secondary book to fill in more information.

Great Pictures
Great pictures. What we were looking for. We have grand children that are all into camping and I think it's important that they can see the various stages that travel trailers have come from over the years. I myself love the old photos and the history behind as what manufacturers have survived through the years. We plan to keep this book in our new travel trailer as a conversation and educational piece. If you want a lot of text and boring writen content, this book isn't for you.Steve in Ohio

Who would have guessed!
Wow, what a great book for anyone interested is vintage travel trailers. The original ads for the various makes, the old time post cards, personal black and white photos. And the book encludes a section on "tear drop" trailers as well. Very nicely done indeed.
