Not perfect but it worked.
Like any tool that's made in some country that has minimal skill and minimal manufacturing facilities this tool is a representative of that type of production. You measure the diameter of the shaft and drill a hole accordingly, it came as described. The surface that presses against the wood to hold it was rough and had some grinding marks so I filed them off so its now very smooth. I have purchased a lot of cheaper tools and with a little re-work they are fine. If you cant re-work something then dont buy this product. Personally its ok with me. You can also use a small piece of scrap wood under the foot to protect the piece you are working on which is a simpler way of going about it, I just make some very small things so a scrap piece takes up space. Have a nice day.

11/16 shank diameter too small for the 3/4" holes in my bench
Should have read the other reviews first. Doesn't hold well with the 3/4" holes in my bench, and I am not fond of the idea of drilling further holes just to fit these. If the shank was larger, or the description did not insist that these were for 3/4" bench holes, I'd rate it higher, as there is no fault in the construction. Just the description.Update: deeper holes in a thicker benchtop work much better. thought my 2" thick bench would be enough. It wasn't. Before returning these, i brought to my buddy's cabinet shop. He has a bench wit ha 4" top. We had to drill a 3/4" inch hole to test these (his bench has 7/8" holes for dogs and hold fasts etc.) but iheld just fine in that. His bench top is also hardwood, which I believe made a differnece as well. I have decided to keep these for future use when I build a new bench.

A well made woodworking holdfast.
These are a classic woodworking accessory. Insert into vertical 3/4" holes in your workbench top; when the arm contacts the top of your board or whatever give a whack above the top of the round shaft, using a wooden mallet or rubber hammer. It jams tightly in the hole, holding your work firmly. When you are ready to release your work, whack the side of the vertical shaft of the holdfast opposite the arm, and it unjams from the hole releasing your work. Easy peasy! These are nicely cast (or forged? I think they are cast iron) and well made.

Good
I like it. Works as advertised. Doesn't work as well in a 3/4 hole.

Size was small, Mars wood, doesn’t hold stock. Useless.
The media could not be loaded. they don’t work as holdfasts in 3/4” dogholes. I drilled my holes with a drill press and a Forsner bit in a 4” thick top. The holdfasts slip and don’t work, they also mar the surface of any wood I try to use them with. Don’t buy these.
