Survive the Unthinkable: A Total Guide to Women's Self-Protection

Theory only
I am a great admirer of Tim Larkin his attitude to Self-Defence is to be commended. His books though tend to be of theory rather than a description of the techniques he teaches. For the people outside the U.S. who cannot access his courses or D.V.D.s it would be useful for him to publish a book demonstrating his actual system, how to execute the moves ect.

A Total Guide to Why You Should Purchase My DVDs
If I have to sum up this book, it would be A Total Guide to Why You Should Purchase My DVDs by Tim Larkin. The author has created his own Self Defence system which he calls Target Focus Training. In his book, he summarises it, and one of the absolute fundamentals of his system is the know the vulnerable targets and how to best injure them. His "Total Guide" does not even include a list of targets, let alone mention the best methods to injure them. The whole book is designed to make you feel strong and badass, but want to go and learn more from the author.I also question the validity of what he teaches. His system relies on everyone having the same ingrained responses to injuries, so if you manage to target one, then you know exactly how to follow it up as they will move exactly as you want. This is quite simply, rubbish. People have different reflexes, pain tolerances, and mental states. Some Threats may be drunk, high, or on a psychotic break, and so not feel pain. He says it is foolish to rely on luck. I say it is foolish to rely on something working exactly the same on everyone, every time. Do not waste your money.
