Very capable miniature recorder, high on features yet very low on the ease of use scale.
I use recorders to capture meetings and such for transcribing and this recorder is capable of a whole lot. The problem comes that with added features come added complexity. The manufacturer decided to include as many features as possible yet they made no attempt to make it easy to operate. I don't know what of the over 20 functions/parameters I am adjusting when I do. While the volume buttons are used for volume and for skipping forward or backward in the recording queue during playback, pretty much everything else is controlled by the single multi-function power control button on the side of the unit. All feedback for what modes you have the unit in is relayed to the user through the red/blue LED on the face of the recorder. Some selections are not indicated by this light, you just need to know what you are doing when you use it. Different blinking and color (red or blue) give the user feedback on what mode you are in and what state the recorder is in. This is very difficult to learn/get used to. If you master it, you have mastered the device and should be very happy with this little unit, as it is feature rich and has good specs.I wish they had an audible cue as to what mode your are currently in or are changing to. This would be so much easier and would not require a screen that would consume power and make the unit less discrete. Relying on a blinking LED and what the recorder "seems" to be doing to get it executing what you want is a negative situation in such a recorder. I found myself pushing the power/multi-function button randomly to see if I could get the recorder to respond as I wished. A guessing game in a personal recorder to get it to do what you want with it is a bad policy. Besides, even though I finally got somewhat used to some of the commands/features, I found myself just pressing and holding the multi-function button in a "push and wait and see" method. - It should not be such a challenge to use.If you are very patient, this could be a great device for you. It holds up to 128GB of data and includes such things as a built in speaker along with the included earbuds for playback which (at least the speaker) virtually unheard of in a device like this. It's magnetic and compact and has a good battery life (30 hours) and of course the large amount of RAM for recording up to 1600 hours of recording! WoW.I will make it a point to train myself on the operation of this tiny capable unit as it truly is a versatile and capable unit, it is just the learning curve that detracts from this little guy. The one thing to note is I could not get this unit to go into any sort of file mode connected to a PC. It says it has the ability to connect to a computer to upload music (and presumably download recorded data) but I could not get it to be recognized on my PC. This could be a problem, or it could just be my ineptitude, so keep this in mind.If this was easier to use, had audio cues to tell you what mode you are in or what feature you are using/adjusting and have the PC connection work, this would be a fantastic recorder and .mp3 player. So if you think you can easily master the control of this recorder and are in need of such a device, this may be just the ticket. I am sure as I learn the unit's ins and outs, I will be much happier with it. As it stands right now, I am still guessing on some stuff and I have about 3 hours of use trying to figure it out.Simply put, this is not for the impatient user.

Learning Curve Ahead
The first bullet point in the product description tells us what the vendor considers the top feature—voice activation. That was the main draw for me. So why is this primary feature disabled by default? You have to plug the device into your computer and edit a text file in its root directory to turn on the voice activation feature. I'm serious.Along with that inconvenience, using it seems unnecessarily complicated. Most functions are done through one button and there's no display to tell you what's going on with the recorder. You have to watch for a flashing light and know how to interpret the colors and number of flashes to know what the recorder is doing. On the plus side it's small, the recording quality is decent, it has a terrific storage capacity for this type of device, and it has a magnetic side so it can be easily attached and removed from many common metal surfaces. At this price though, it should simply be easier to use in my opinion. If you'll use this often it will likely be worth purchasing and memorizing the sequences needed to operate it. If you'd only use it occasionally, you may have to get the instructions out and figure out how to use it each time. Because of the operational complexity I wouldn't recommend it for casual or occasional users. Power users may well love it, though, and that's who it seems designed for.

A Serviceable, and Handy, Portable Voice Recorder
The Mydeok 128GB Magnetic Voice Recorder is a small, rounded device that can easily be operated with one hand. It's sturdy, and while tricky, the best way to remember the startup sequence is: when holding the power button, wait until the light flashes blue multiple times turns the recorder on, while doing the same thing and seeing multiple red light flashes turns it off.I made some test recordings, and while the sound was a bit on the tinny side, it was absolutely usable. Save the instruction booklet, you're going to need it to follow along with the different features the unit offers. The included headphones attach via the USB Type C port, so that you can listen to your files in private. I could see using this device as a backup when conducting interviews, or in a tricky situation when you need to record evidence without being discovered as when using your mobile phone for instance. Nobody will know what that thing that looks like a key fob for a car on your keyring is, right? The magnet attaches only on one side, the one OPPOSITE the indicator light, just so you know. Two things I'd like to see improved in a future update: That the magnet were stronger and on BOTH sides of the device, and the addition of Bluetooth, so that I could pair my own personal headphones for listening. The Mydeok 128GB Magnetic Voice Recorder, is a serviceable unit that just may come in handy when you need it the most.
