Watch out - Supermarket Gremlins!
We came across supermarket gremlins while food shopping and my 6 year old had a look and instantly fell in love with Supermarket Gremlins. The cute illustrations of the spotty green gremlins causing havoc in a supermarket jumped right off the shelves at us and stood out from the other books around it. In the book a little boy sees the gremlins amongst the food and causing all sorts of trouble, but his mother seems oblivious (and other adults sense something strange). It focuses around the gremlins trying to escape the supermarket and really plays with the readers imagination. It attributes things you would commonly see in a grocery store to a gremlin misbehaving (a wet floor sign due to a gremlin having a wee on the floor). There is a bit of toilet humour (ie wee on the floor, bare gremlin bottoms & belching) but my son enjoys it and I find the little gremlins quite endearing. It is a lift the flap book and there are a lot of flaps. Unlike most lift the flap books where there is one or two per page at the most this is really varied. The last page had 9 flaps! There are a couple of pages with 1 large flap, but I like that we looked through it a couple of times, finding a new flap we missed every time. The flaps are done almost as if to show the supermarket looking normal as the mother sees it and then under the flap shows the gremlins as the son sees it, although here and there you can see gremlin fingers, toes and eyes. Brilliant book. It has quickly become my sons favourite and we love reading it together and found our gremlin voices! Highly recommended if you're looking for a superb lift the flap book - by far the best I have seen of its kind.

This wonderful rhyming picture book written by Adam and Charlotte Guillain ...
This wonderful rhyming picture book written by Adam and Charlotte Guillain (authors of Spaghetti with the Yeti and Pizza for Pirates) and illustrated by Chris Chatterton, shows us the zany, secret world of the Supermarket Gremlins. This book is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud as you try to spot the little monsters hiding in and amongst the shelves, getting up to no good. Read along and lift the numerous flaps to reveal what those naughty Gremlins are doing β and itβs often very naughty, in the best possible way. A particular favourite Gremlin of mine would have to be the one pulling a glorious moonie from the kiwi shelf! This is a bold, bright and funny book for all ages and would be a perfect read before a trip into town. Your visits to the supermarket will NEVER be the same again. You have been warned! If you like this try Oh No, George! by Chris Haughton.

Fantastic book
My daughter loves this book. Loads of doors of all sizes for little fingers to explore. The illustrations are bright and colourful and the fact the back of the doors (if that makes sense) expands on the illustration rather than just being left blank is a nice touch too.Would have liked it if the doors were a little stronger to protect from over excited toddler fingers but wouldn't put me off buying it as a gift or recommending to others.
