Well worth the money
I recently moved to an apt that has a window air conditioner. It is rather loud and does not cool the whole apt. I had heard of swamp coolers many years ago yet did not know there are now portable units. Took a chance and purchased this unit and am so glad I did. It, along with a couple other fans, cools nicely.Height - The first night in the bedroom, I noticed the bed was getting more of the delicious coolness than myself. Unit was not high enough. So purchased the rolling stand in the pic for about $10.00 at a second hand store, removed coasters from cooler; placed cooler on stand and now can roll cooler on stand from room to room. The stand provides the height I was looking for.Ice packs - The ones that came with the unit was a little hard to open so I used a pair of pliers to loosen the cap. I purchased more ice packs (Dollar Tree) and on very hot days, rotate the ice packs every 3-4 hours.Water - I keep a couple gallons of water in the fridge and use that to add when water is needed. (not sure is adding water colder than tap water helps but figured it could not hurt). All in all a great purchase!

Terrible instructions and follow up support
There are items in the shipment that have no explanation. The instruction manual doesn't tell you the diffeerence between settings, eg. mode button between 'normal' and 'natural'. Sorry I am a dummy but I don't know what that means. And if I ever learn the difference which one is operating when the light is on and which when the light is off? Cooling button 'open or close the cooling system'. What? What does that mean. The ice boxes (blue plastic things) =- it tells you to 'fill to scale' but there are no markings on the plastic so what the heck is scale? I hate this thing, not sure how to operate it to my needs with this lack of info. Chat has given me no real help. Phone is overseas. Can't register online because it won't take Amazons order number. Company sucks. May or may not be a good product - how would you know if you don't know how to operate it?And when I tried to at the very least let Amazon know the problem, although I was assured otherwise, no one ever got back to me nor were there any messages to me in my account. I guess Amazon doesn't care if it sells items with problems that can or will not be managed by the selling company.

works great good velocity very low sound
works great great velocity of air very low sound easy to put together except for one problem had no hose to fill it up with the ice packs that it came with were empty they are super cheap some sort of powder residue inside the ice packs I left it in and just filled with water they froze the first two ice packs I filled up about an inch and a half from the top and when I freeze them and pop the cap right off made a mess in the refrigerator the fan itself good everything else and not so good freezer packs garbage no hose attachmentthere is one note to say there is water mesh on the back but not on the sides and you know how AIR likes leas resistance

Can make a hot room comfortable
Had ducts replaced during the humid, relentless heat of a Carolina August, so no central air conditioning available for four days. Our windows do not allow for the installation of window units or other solutions requiring ventilation through a window. I thought a swamp cooler would be our best option for staying cool. It's inexpensive when compared with booking hotel rooms for the family. And it helped. As long as the room is ventilated (e.g., a door is open) and the room isn't huge, this unit cools well. It kept my office at 75° to 77° without central air, when the room was normally above 78° in the afternoons/evenings with air conditioning due to radiant heat and rusted out ductwork. Once ductwork was replaced, we continued to use these swamp coolers (we purchased two) in the rooms where radiant heat will always be problematic. This product is easy to set up and operate. It was an oscillation setting, whereby directional blades within the casing swing, but the unit itself remains stationary. The timer and remote control are nice conveniences, and it operates more quietly than the tower fans we have.

Great for winter time humidity!
Update 2/18/25: sadly I only got 1.5 winters out of it before the pump quit 😢Update 11/26/23: Using as a humidifier in winter. Excellent! I'm going through 3 gallons of water a day. Here's hoping it lasts a few years!Original review:I received no answer regarding cleaning the filter so I took it apart (I would not recommend). In order to get the filter properly positioned you’d have to detach the base with the electronics. Many reviews on here are not for the swamp fan, I don’t understand why they are listed here. This swamp fan did not cool my bedroom down during the 80 degree weeks, and it drastically increased the humidity. I will try to use in winter as a humidifier since it did crank out the humidity. The filter is like a hard paper with some kind of coating on it that makes it hard and brittle. Bottom line is this humidifies quickly but does not cool. I had to purchase an AC to cool my house.
