Double DVD edition. Live At Pompeii is the project from David Gilmour, and follows his critically acclaimed studio album Rattle That Lock from September of 2015. Following the release of Rattle That Lock in 2015, David Gilmour set out to play a series of concerts in historic venues across the world. On July 7th and 8th, 2016, David Gilmour performed two spectacular shows at the legendary Pompeii Amphitheatre in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, 45 years after he first played there for Adrian Maben's classic film Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. The concerts were the first-ever rock performances played to an audience in the ancient Roman amphitheater, which was built in 90 BC and entombed in ash when Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. David Gilmour is the only performer to play to an audience in the arena since the time of the gladiators, almost 2,000 years ago. Speaking about the Pompeii shows David Gilmour commented 'It's a magical place and coming back and seeing the stage and the arena was quite overwhelming. It's a place of ghosts...' Includes songs from throughout David's career including the title tracks of his two most recent #1 solo albums: Rattle That Lock and On An Island. Also included are other solo and Pink Floyd classics such as 'Wish You Were Here,' 'Comfortably Numb' and 'One Of These Days,' the only song that was also performed by the band in 1971. Both concerts also saw extraordinary performances of 'The Great Gig In The Sky' from The Dark Side Of The Moon, which David rarely plays as a solo artist. The concert performance film, David Gilmour Live at Pompeii, was shot in 4K by director Gavin Elder and includes highlights from both shows. The concert is a spectacular audio-visual experience, featuring the famous huge circular cyclorama screen as well as lasers, pyrotechnics and stellar performances from an all-star band. I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd on their "73 DSOTM Tour tickets were a whopping $9.00!!! As you can see now it's pretty cost prohibitive now to see a 3rd rate band now, much less one the caliber of PF (among others). But with 50" HDTV and a good surround sound system it's as close as you can get without actually being there, David is one (if not the)of the best Guitarist's still making great music today. Top notch performance and band! Even Chuck Leavell on Keys and vocals. Great show great filming, I actually feel like I was there!!! I hope you can keep us entertained for years to come. no doubt one of the best concert films out there. KEEP ROCKING DAVE!!! Roger WHO????? There's a nice mix of classics and solo work here. The "Rattle that Lock" songs are well done as are the other stuff from Gilmour's solo work. And the Floyd songs are very nicely done. Direction/camera work is excellent giving us great footage. The band with David are top flight, with the backing vocals being extra special. Gilmour's guitar is spectacular and he plays one mean steel guitar. Now he played a great steel when I saw Floyd (minus Waters) but here he is truly excellent. This is a great representation of David Gilmour's music. The tribute song to Richard Wright is one of my favorite songs on this first disc. Great music here!

Sir David was in top form as always. The first half was a bit slow but overall a fantastic concert. My only gripe was the smoke guy got a little out of hand -- to the point where all of the musicians disappeared a time or two. Otherwise, a good show with great sound!

Be it David or Roger. you always expect high quality musicianship, audio, and visuals with the former Pink Floyd maestros. This dvd is stunning on all 3 counts. The visuals at times go from good to great to spectacular! This is easily a 5 star concert. Excellent!!!

Il Significato Storico e l'Emozione Il ritorno di David Gilmour nell'anfiteatro di Pompei, 45 anni dopo il film dei Pink Floyd del 1971, non è una semplice replica, ma un momento di profonda bellezza. Il DVD cattura perfettamente la solennità e l'atmosfera notturna delle rovine, esaltate da uno spettacolo di luci e laser maestoso. La vera magia, per me, è stata poter godere dell'esperienza completa: audio e video. Non si può davvero apprezzare appieno la potenza e la bellezza di questa performance senza vedere Gilmour e la band in azione, e senza ammirare la scenografia unica al mondo. Il valore storico e artistico del film-concerto è inestimabile. Ho scelto intenzionalmente il formato DVD e ho fatto bene: la qualità tecnica è eccezionale. Audio Impeccabile: La presenza della traccia Stereo PCM (audio non compresso, la stessa fedeltà del CD) garantisce un ascolto cristallino e purissimo, non perdendo nulla rispetto all'edizione audio. Questo cofanetto 2 DVD offre il massimo in termini di valore, qualità audio (grazie al PCM) e completezza dell'esperienza visiva.
