The space in the hook that connects to the rim of the drum can limit you to certain 55 gallon drums. I was able to make it work by forcing the hook onto a metal 55 gallon drum and it worked for my needs.

I’ve been using the BEAMNOVA 2-ton chain drum lifter for a few weeks now, and it has definitely made handling heavy drums much safer and easier. The construction feels heavy-duty and the rated 4400lb capacity inspires confidence—it doesn’t feel like it’s anywhere close to its limits when I’m moving full steel drums. The jaws grip securely and release smoothly, which saves a lot of time compared to older clamp styles I’ve used. The chain setup is straightforward and gives good leverage, though you do need a decent hoist or crane to make the most of it. Once in place, the lift is very stable, and I like that it doesn’t deform or damage the drum. One small downside is that it’s a bit bulky and not the easiest thing to maneuver into tight spaces, but that’s probably the tradeoff for its strength. Also, the paint could be a little thicker—mine already shows some scratches from use. Overall, it’s a reliable and rugged piece of equipment. If you’re regularly lifting heavy drums and need something you can trust, this BEAMNOVA lifter is worth the investment.

I’ve used it to lift 55-gallon drums, yes, but also to flex on my neighbors who struggle with groceries. Safety rating: somewhere between OSHA violation and WWE stunt show. Would I buy it again? Only if I want to start my own pirate ship.

There was some good engineering and design that when into this Chain Drum Lifter. It has the versatility to be lifted by either a forklift, chain hoist or a crane. It’s easy to attach to the sides of the barrels and easy to release. They are stable and secure as long as you have them balanced when attached. So far, I have been excited to have them because it makes moving barrels a whole easier and faster.
