Great torch
Very bright, the flattened shape makes it more convenient to carry. Gets quite hot on full power - but this is a smallish hand torch. If you want to light up 500 metres away for hours you should look at fa bigger devices that aren't going to come near fitting your pocket.

Powerful EDC Torch from Nitecore
I purchased this EDC-27 Torch from Nitecore as it's a handy size & very powerful, you get 5 brightness levels as well as a strobe function. It's a very solid feel to the torch as it's made from stainless steel with a black (PVD) titanium coating, also the LED display is very handy to have as you get the run times from each mode at the press of a button, all said I'm very happy with it, every one needs a good pocket torch, from walking the dog to hiking the trails, this covers the lot.

Very good
I think it's a great torch when you need instant bright light. The only thing id want is a moonlight mode but it's designed for brightness. Good form factor and very bright. I keep it by my bedside just incase required - one button for max brightness.

Close to been 5 Stars
Flashlights have become a major piece of kit in recent years and I personally love the things! Been able to illuminate your environment at any given moment makes a lot of sense. I use mine in the morning to get ready for work instead of turning on all the house lights. It might look like I'm been burgled to anyone walking by outside, but my energy bills are considerably lower because of it, so I'll take that! This flashlight is very good and VERY bright and I think it makes for a superb self defence option with its easy access strobe feature, but that's another conversation. I carry this or the OLIGHT Arcfeld Pro and the Arcfeld gets more pocket time because I find it easier to use. NiteCore need to change the UI for this EDC27, while retaining it's form factor. Changing light modes with a half press of the smaller of the two buttons is tricky at best and I think making them harder to press would also eliminate the need for their lockout mode, which involves pressing and holding down the smaller button, which is just not intuitive. I would also love a flat magnetic base to enable it to stick to metals, while tail standing it in the middle of a room to light up an indoor space from one set point. If they could fine tweek these issues, while retaining the incredible battery life, brilliant screen display, superb pocket-ability, insane 3000 lumin brightness and almost perfect form factor, we would have ourselves the EDC flashlight for the masses. I do not regret buying mine, but I'm excited for the 2nd generation and I would suggest checking out a review on YouTube before purchasing. It's a brilliant piece of kit though.

Best Torch
Have about 30 Torches. Yes, I know just can't help it. Have 4 massive Security Dragon lights and many more. This is a flood light in your pocket.

Better than I thought
I always carry at least 3 torches on me. Including a keychain olight. This bit of kit is phenomenal for its size and so easy to set up a use. The 3000 lumen turbo mode is mind blowing and the display tells you battery life power level etc. it is clipped to my right pocket inside and has currently replaced my previous edc torch. Well worth the money.

Not quite a year later - review updated
Well, initially I was very pleased with this flashlight. There are still many things I like about it. However, the one thing I do not like ultimately has made me throw it with great frustration into the donation bin at the local church thrift store. Things I liked: - Shape and Size > perfect for keeping it on my belt in a slimline holster alongside my Leatherman multitool and Bit Kit. - Brightness and Strobe > really bright, multiple levels of luminosity, strobe was super cool and more useful than initially anticipated. - Position of switches > on the end, easy to actuate in numerous grips, I prefer end switches to side - Belt clip > strong, good size, firm hold but not so much that drawing the flashlight is difficult. Will not allow flashlight to jar loose under physical activity if clipped in good spot. Things I did not like: - Switch configuration to select different light levels or activate/ deactivate the lock feature to prevent unintentional activation of the lights. This is the thing that really killed this flashlight's reliability and utilization. One must depress the primary switch button only part way to select the light levels. This is very difficult to achieve given the sensitivity of the button and lack of tactile feedback that allows the light level selection to be accurately done without going too far and shutting the light off. This configuration also results in undesired light level switches occurring randomly. The penultimate failure of this button configuration is trying to deactivate the lock consistently and rapidly when needed. Even after numerous times confirming my technique with the instructions and practicing the procedure many, many times, there were waaaay too many times that it would not deactivate the lock and I had to wait for the screen to clear then try again. This is beyond frustrating when you are holding an awkward body position and need light RIGHT NOW but must dork around with this over and over and over trying to get the exact timing and button placement to respond. There were only two times that I did not have to go through this experience. EVERY OTHER TIME was agonizing and infuriating. To ensure my technique was not the issue I have given three additional training sessions followed with a field deployment with real life use scenarios - EPIC FAILS. It just does not work in a way that makes it quick to deploy and have light in short order. A couple months ago I even started carrying a small back-up O-light for when I get frustrated and need to get past the lock and just have light. Hopefully Nitecore will amend this issue in future models. I would definitely get that version.

Fantastisch apparaat
